Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering ties-up with Cisco to introduce Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad)

- NetAcad CCNA course to be offered to 100 students at the Institute -

Chennai, India, September 19, 2007 - Cisco®, the worldwide leader in networking for the Internet and Aalim Muhammed Salegh College of Engineering, today announced a tie-up to introduce the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) curriculum for students under the Cisco Networking Academy (NetAcad). The curriculum will impart knowledge of the principles and practices of designing, building and maintaining communication networks that are the foundations of any communication technology. The college will impart networking curriculum to 100 students every year in 3 batches.

Cisco will provide free web based curriculum, online course material of the NetAcad Program and 24x7 technical support. It will also implement the Cisco Networking Academy Quality Assurance Plan to maintain the highest quality of training and education at the institute. The curriculum is in line with needs of colleges, and features hands-on, project-driven training in high-demand job skills in networking technology. Imparting professional skills in networking in India is of prime importance as a recent IDC report has shown that India will have a shortfall of over 86,300 skilled networking professionals in the current year. The gap is estimated to grow at a CAGR of 39%, the fastest in APAC (excluding Japan) region and will reach 137,200 professionals by 2009.
