ONUG is a community of IT business leaders who exchange ideas and best practices for implementing open networking and software-defined networking (SDN) designs.
ONUG Fall 2020, scheduled for October 14-15, focuses on “acceleration to the enterprise cloud” – the essential business platform in the post-COVID world. Attendees will have an opportunity to learn and network on ONUG’s fully immersive, interactive digital platform via panel sessions, interactive Q&As, keynotes, and a virtual exhibit hall.
Wednesday, October 14 | 12:10–1:00 pm EST | Main stage
What if you could connect your existing network automation platform with a cloud native network platform using standard integration points. You can express your infrastructure’s environment as a set of network services across physical, virtual, and cloud native environments. If the business logic is removed from the underlay then an intent-driven model can consume network services based on workload needs while optimizing for desired service level objectives. The workloads will be free of all the structural logic that keeps them bound to a specific data center underlay and thus can more freely move between private and public clouds as well as between clouds without the necessity to change application deployment rules. In short, is shifting infrastructure from cloud ready to cloud native the best approach to transition workloads for the cloud?

During ONUG Digital Live last May, the ONUG Board challenged the community to hire 50% women into IT roles by 2025, but the fact is there are not enough women to fill 50% of the roles. We need to cultivate women for these roles because it's not possible to hire 50% women and 50% men with the current woman-based talent pool. In this roundtable session, cultivating strategies and approaches to hiring women in technical roles is shared by hiring managers and HR. Come with your questions and be ready to share and learn.

Proof of concept (POC) session | On demand
In this session, we’ll showcase Cisco’s recent gNMI implementation and the ecosystem integration with Telegraf and the overall TICK stack. We’ll also highlight one way to do infrastructure as code to automatically configure an NXOS device using open source tools and how gNMI is used to stream switch telemetry.

Secure networking was easier when users worked out of a main office and the data they needed was in the data center. Now users—and the workloads they access—are more distributed. Networking and security can’t deliver a secure, extensible network by operating in silos. They need to join forces in a SaaS-consumable architecture and deliver services closer to users, in the cloud, and at the edge. Join Cisco Umbrella to hear how you can move toward a SASE architecture.

In addition to all our Cisco sessions, make sure not to miss the great content from ThousandEyes, now a part of Cisco. Join Angelique Medina, Director of Product Marketing for their PoC session “Overlays, Underlays, Oh My! Optimizing Performance for Your Remote Workforce”.
This session will demonstrate how you can gain visibility into your VPN and SD-WAN overlay performance, as well as Internet and private network underlay paths and correlate this visibility to application experience. You’ll see specific examples of how you can isolate issues across user WiFi, ISP, VPN and app performance, so you can reduce MTTI/MTTR and assure workforce productivity.
ThousandEyes, now a part of Cisco, also has a virtual booth with feature-packed demos and presentations. Visit the Cisco and ThousandEyes booths and receive a free WFH t-shirt! Limit one per attendee.

Cisco NX-OS now has new capabilities with OpenConfig and gRPC Network Management Interface (gNMI) support to provide an open and model-driven facility to automate data center networks.
Leveraging gNMI in conjunction with both OpenConfig and our native YANG models, Cisco NX-OS bring a modern approach to network telemetry, providing real-time, event driven visibility via an open, industry standard transport and format.
