Bias-Free Language

The documentation set for this product strives to use bias-free language. For the purposes of this documentation set, bias-free is defined as language that does not imply discrimination based on age, disability, gender, racial identity, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality. Exceptions may be present in the documentation due to language that is hardcoded in the user interfaces of the product software, language used based on RFP documentation, or language that is used by a referenced third-party product. Configuring Syslog, Webserver Log, and License Log

  1. Choose Troubleshooting > Logs > Syslog.
  2. Under Syslog, click Manage Syslog Servers.
  3. Under Log Level Settings, specify the Syslog and Message Console settings. You can choose one of the following options:
    • Emergencies—Severity level 0
    • Alerts—Severity level 1
    • Critical—Severity level 2
    • Errors—Severity level 3 (default value)
    • Warnings—Severity level 4
    • Notifications—Severity level 5
    • Informational—Severity level 6
    • Debugging—Severity level 7
    • Disable—Disable console logging
  4. Under Message Buffer Configuration and Level drop-down list, set the buffer level by choosing one of the options as explained in Step 3.
  5. In the Size (Bytes) field, enter the buffer size. The buffer size can be configured only in the debugging level. The buffer size can range between 4096 to 2147483647.

Note: If you set a logging level, only those messages whose severity is equal to or less than that level are logged by the controller. For example, if you set the logging level to Warnings (severity level 4), only those messages whose severity is between 0 and 4 are logged.

  1. Under IP Configuration, click Add.
  2. Select either IPv4/IPv6 or FQDN as the Server Type.
  3. For Server Type IPv4/IPv6, enter the IPv4 / IPv6 Server Address. For Server Type FQDN, enter the Host name, choose the IP type, and the appropriate VRF Name from the drop-down lists.

    4. To delete a syslog server, click x next to the appropriate server entry, under the Remove column.

    Note: When creating a host name, spaces are not allowed.

  4. Click Apply to Device.
ClosedViewing Syslogs

The Syslog page enables you to view the message logs that have been captured by the controller, by the last to the first message. Each trap entry includes the system time, filename and line, message type and message. Click the Scroll to Bottom and Scroll to Top options to scroll through the logs.

Viewing Web Server Logs

  1. Choose Troubleshooting > Logs > Web Server Logs.
  2. Specify the number of lines you want displayed from the log. For example, if you type 100, the last 100 lines in the log are displayed.
  3. Click View.To download the complete log, click Download Full Log. Based on what you selected, the complete error log or access log is downloaded to your computer.

Viewing License Logs

  1. Choose Troubleshooting > Logs > License Logs.
  2. Specify the License Event logs for days.
  3. Click View.To download the complete log, click Download Full Log. Based on what you selected, the complete error log or access log is downloaded to your computer.
