Bias-Free Language

The documentation set for this product strives to use bias-free language. For the purposes of this documentation set, bias-free is defined as language that does not imply discrimination based on age, disability, gender, racial identity, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality. Exceptions may be present in the documentation due to language that is hardcoded in the user interfaces of the product software, language used based on RFP documentation, or language that is used by a referenced third-party product. Configuring AP Groups

Configuring AP Groups

Use access point groups to selectively publish WLANs to different access points and manage your wireless network better. In a typical deployment, all users on a WLAN are mapped to a single interface on the device. Therefore, all the users that are associated with that WLAN are on the same subnet or VLAN. However, you can choose to distribute the load among several interfaces or to a group of users based on specific criteria such as individual departments (such as Marketing) by creating access point groups. Additionally, these access point groups can be configured in separate VLANs to simplify network administration.

On the Configure > AP Groups, click Add. You can configure the following settings for the AP group.

ClosedGeneral
  1. On the Configure > AP Groups > General page, enter a name for the AP group.
  2. Enter a description to associate with the AP group.
  3. Click Apply.
ClosedWLANs/RLANs
  1. On the Configure > AP Groups > WLANs/RLANs page, choose a RLAN/WLAN from the SSID drop-down list, to associate with the AP group.
  2. From the Interface/Interface Group drop-down list, choose the interface to which you want to map RLAN/WLAN.
  3. Click Apply.
ClosedAPs
  1. On the Configure > AP Groups > APs page, choose the access points you want to add to the AP group and click Add. The APs you add are displayed in a table below.
  2. Click Apply.
ClosedRF Profile
  1. On the Configure > AP Groups > RF Profile page, choose the RF profile you want to associate with each radio.
  2. Click Apply.
ClosedPorts

You can enable up to 3 LAN ports, if access points on your network have Ethernet ports to which your device can securely connect, and associate each port with a Remote LAN. One of these Ethernet ports, LAN1, can also provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) to power an external device such as an IP phone or a security camera.

  1. On the Configure > AP Groups > Ports page, select the Enable Port check box for the LAN port(s) you want to enable. To provide PoE to a connected device, select the POE check box for LAN1.
  2. From the Remote LAN drop-down list, choose the Remote LAN to which you want to associate the LAN port.
  3. Click Apply.
ClosedHyperlocation
  1. On the Configure > Access Groups page, click the Hyperlocation tab.
  2. To configure Hyperlocation using the same settings as the global APs, click Inherit Global Values. You can update Hyperlocation settings for your AP group.
  3. To enable Hyperlocation in the AP group, select the Hyperlocation Enable check box. Cisco Hyperlocation is a location solution that allows to track the location of wireless clients with the accuracy of one meter.
  4. Enter the Detection Threshold (dBm) value to filter out packets with low RSSI. The valid range is –100 dBm to –50 dBm.
  5. Enter the Trigger Threshold (cycles) value to set the number of scan cycles before sending a BAR to clients. The valid range is 0 to 99.
  6. Enter the Reset Threshold (cycles) value to reset value in scan cycles after trigger. The valid range is 0 to 99.

Note: Ensure that the Reset Threshold value is always less than the Trigger Threshold value.

  1. Enter the IPv4 address of the NTP server.
  2. Click Apply.
