Upgrade Sequence for Phase 3

This section describes recommendation for the upgrade of components and groupings in sequence in Phase 3.


Note

Check the Cisco Hosted Collaboration Solution Compatibility Matrix for compatible release versions. Depending on your system, you may not need to upgrade all components.

Procedure


Step 1

Upgrade Session Border Controller. If you use any third-party SBC, refer to the product documentation for the supported version. If you use CUBE-Enterprise see Cisco Unified Border Controller (Enterprise) for details.

Step 2

Upgrade Endpoints. For more information, see Upgrading Endpoints.

Step 3

(Optional) Upgrade other applications. For more information, see Upgrading Cisco Applications and Optional Applications on Other Servers or VMs.

Step 4

Upgrade Cisco Unified Attendant consoles either Standard or Advanced, see Unified Attendant Consoles for details.


Upgrading Endpoints

Endpoint Type

How it is Upgraded

IP phone

Usually upgraded automatically during the upgrade of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (device defaults - firmware).

Jabber clients

You are not required to upgrade Jabber client versions. UC applications are backward compatible with BASE versions. If you want to upgrade, however, you can upgrade to the latest release of Jabber client.

Video endpoints

Usually upgraded automatically during the upgrade of Cisco Unified Communications Manager (device defaults - firmware).
