Archiving and Deleting Content
The Digital Media Manager can also archive and delete content. Archiving is defined by placing the content element into an Archived or Inactive state. If required, an Archived content element can be made Active again. Deleting content, however, is removing it from the Digital Media Manager and the content element can no longer be referenced.
Archiving a Content Element
The following example illustrates how to archive a Program. The same process can be used to archive user accounts, Videos, Video Parts, Related Items, Playlists, Categories, User Interfaces, Tickers, Interstitials, and Interstitial Sequences.
To archive a content element, follow these steps:
Step 1 From the Active Program List in the PROGRAMS page (located under the VIDEO PORTAL tab on the primary navigation bar), click the Archive check box to the left of the Program to be archived.

Step 2 Click on the Archive Selected link or Off icon in the upper right corner of the Active Program list. This archives any or all programs with a check in the Archive check box.

Note All Programs that have been archived are listed in alphabetical order in the Archived Program List. After a Program has been archived, its corresponding Video(s) and Video Part(s) remain active. This means the Video(s) and Video Part(s) remain Active if they are in a Playlist. If a deployment occurs and a Program is archived, the Video(s) and Video Part(s) are available if it is in the deployed Playlist. They are also accessible in the Search Tab of the Video Portal using the keyword search.
In contrast, an archived Program is not listed under the Active Associated Programs of a Category. Instead, it is listed under the Archived Associated Programs of a Category. Therefore, if a deployment occurs, the Program, Video(s) and Video Part(s) are not found under the Program Guide Tab of the Video Portal.
Activating an Archived Content Element
The following example illustrates how to activate an archived Program. The same process can be used to activate archived user accounts, Videos, Video Parts, Related Items, Playlists, Categories, User Interfaces, Tickers, Interstitials, and Interstitial Sequences.
To activate an Archived Content Element, follow these steps:
Step 1 From the Archived Program List in the PROGRAMS page (located under the VIDEO PORTAL tab on the primary navigation bar), check the Activate/Delete check box to the left of the Program to be activated.

Deleting an Archived Content Element
The following example illustrates how to delete an archived Program. The same process can be used to delete archived user accounts, Videos, Video Parts, Related Items, Playlists, Categories, User Interfaces, Tickers, Interstitials, and Interstitial Sequences.

Figure 14-8 Delete Above Programs Confirmation
After an Archived Program has been deleted, it is no longer listed in either the Archived or Active Program List.
Note After a Program has been deleted, its corresponding Video(s) and Video Part(s) are also deleted. The Program, Video(s) and Video Part(s) are also removed from any associated Category. Therefore, if a deployment occurs, the Program, Video(s), Video Part(s) are not found under the Program Guide Tab of the Video Portal. A deleted Program can, however, still be listed as a Program in an Active Playlist. If this Active Playlist is deployed, the Program, Video(s), and Video Part(s) in the Playlist are still available for viewing in the Video Portal. The Program, Video(s), and Video Part(s) are also accessible in the Search Tab of the Video Portal using the keyword search.
