Online Video Platform Features

Feature

Description

Channel Lineup Resilience

The channel lineup client serves from its cache instead of querying the server to prevent server overload.

Editorially controlled swimlanes for VOD

Editorially controlled swimlanes for VOD are supported from the Ops Hub. An asset will be displayed within a classification only if existing condition rules allow it (for example, the asset catalog availability window) and if one of the following is true:

  • The asset's association with the classification has no availability window (for example, the default window is infinite).

  • The current time is within the asset's association with the classification availability window.

Enhance data for IVP-A Usage reports

Service Providers have insight into their service usage. Linear and VOD Usage reports include the following updated data:

  • Linear reports will not include sessions that are less than 30 seconds.

  • Linear reports include DVB triplet data.

  • VOD and linear reports include Trick mode entries instead of FF and RW.

  • VOD and linear reports include Skip entries for OTT position-set events.

Mixed swimlanes for VOD and linear

Service Providers can manually create curated mixed swimlanes that include VOD and linear assets and channels. This feature includes the following:

  • Ability to configure linear events and VOD assets to be mapped to a UX content tile menu item in a swimlane.

  • The number of tile mappings per swimlane is configurable.

  • Both entitled and unentitled content are displayed in the swimlane when mapped. For VOD, only items in the user’s catalog are displayed.

  • The display order of the assets is explicitly determined by the operator (for example, no sort rules will be applied).

  • Once an event has ended, it will be automatically removed from the swimlane. For VOD, this will be based on availability window.

  • The minimum allowed number of valid assets per swimlaneis configurable. The default value is 5.

  • All parameters are configurable via Ops Hub.

State-based textual icons (New/Expiring Soon)

Service Providers have the ability to provide state-based textual icons, as follows:

  • NEW—VOD content that has been newly added to the catalog (less than 2 weeks ago). Channels have a New flag in the Channel Lineup.

  • EXPIRING SOON—VOD entitlements that will expire in the next 48 hours; Catchup content that will be removed from the catalog in the next 48 hours and VOD content that will be removed from the catalog in the next 2 weeks.

  • UNSUBSCRIBED— Premium channels that are not subscribed by the user and premium events that need to be purchased for viewing entitlements (TVOD).

Support for creation of Newly Added/About to Expire swimlanes

Service Providers have the ability to create swimlanes for Newly Added and About to Expire assets. The client application can receive a list of classification VOD assets sorted by their ingest time (newest first) and a list of classification VOD assets about to expire.

Linear schedule image selection rules for online/connected mode

Service Providers can have low-quality and high-quality posters available for the same linear UI; pull the high-quality poster when in connected mode and pull the low-quality poster when in one-way mode. Note: DTH utilizes low-quality posters due to bandwidth limitations.

Enhanced Shop in Shop

Enhanced VOD purchase experience as follows:

  • The VOD provider's screen includes a dedicated background image, along with the title and description.

  • The VOD provider's screen displays a classification hierarchy, when available.

  • The VOD provider's screen is curateable.

Last watched channel

The channel currently being watched is displayed on the Last Watched Channels swimlane.
