Introduction

This document describes the new features, open issues and closed issues for Cisco Infinite Video Platform (IVP) Release 18.3.4.

New and Changed Features

The following new or changed features have been introduced with this release.

Managed Device (ATV) Features

Description

Optimized first login

ATV app uses the secret ID for registering the device to a household and retrieving respective user information.

  • To improve security regarding privacy, each device will be assigned a secret (chip id) during the manufacturing process.

  • The device secrets will be given to the OAuth2 service to securely identify the device.

  • When a device is registered with a new household, it must be moved (it cannot exist simultaneously in both households).

Information Architecture: Dynamic VOD classification (Multi-swimlane)

Service Provider operators can configure a VOD classification to co-exist with other swimlanes on a screen.

  • When the VOD classification is configured as collapsed, each sub-classification of the VOD is displayed as a tile/asset of the VOD classification, and the header of the swimlane is the VOD classification title.

  • When the VOD classification is configure in multiple swimlanes, each sub-classification of the VOD is displayed as separate swimlanes. The sub-classification title is the header of the swimlane and assets of each sub-classification are displayed as tiles on the swimlane.

Pop-up Notifications

The following pop-up notifications are available in the IVP app:

  • Informative pop-up notification—Informative notifications time out without user intervention.

  • Interactive pop-up notification—Interactive notifications are displayed in a modal pop-up and must be dismissed by the user.

VOD Binge Watching with Rich Metadata

At the end of a VOD series, the user is prompted to watch the next episode. A coundown timer is displayed and once it reaches zero, the next episode automically begins playing.

The binge popup contains the following metadata:

  • Episode, season number

  • Episode title

  • Duration

  • Parental rating

  • Content advisory

  • Program poster

DVR: Show Disk Quota The percentabe of spaced used in the cloud storage is displayed in Settings > Disk Space Management.

Android Device Features

Description

Enhance player banner to KV3 Player banner has been enhanced to the latest UI specification.

Adult Filters

Users can enable or disable the Adult Filter in Settings to show or hide the adult content metadata (Linear, VOD, cDVR and Catchup) in the application. PIN validation is required to disable Adult Filter (OFF).

When Adult Filter is enabled (ON), the following metadata content is masked:

  • Program title is replaced with a default adult_program_title text Restricted Content.

  • Program poster is replaced with dynamic default poster using program title Restricted Content.

  • Synopsis is replaced with the masked text: All adult content metadata has been hidden as per your personalization settings.

Tri-color progress bar

The progress bar can be displayed in three colors depicting the following segments:

  • S1—Total duration of the program

  • S2—Playable duration of the program

  • S3—Duration from review buffer depth or from beginning of the program to current play position

PIN confirmation on every parental rating protected event

Service Provider Operators can configure the PIN entry screen to be displayed on every parental rating protected event (linear, recorded content, VOD, Catchup).

  • Withoutgrace period—PIN entry screen is displayed every time the user tries to view the event or program, even when the user is watching the same linear channel and the parental rating is above the threshold set in the preferences by user.

  • With grace period in x minutes—PIN entry screen is displayed for any event (even if the event parental rating is above the threshold set in the preferences) until the grace period has elapsed after a successful verification of the PIN.

Action menu background configurable

The IVP client product UI allows configuring the Action menu background.

Most Popular VOD - Inclusion Filter for Genre

The following swimlanes are displayed on the Hub HOME screen based on most popular VOD from the recommendation engine:

  • Top Movies

  • Top TV Series

  • Top Sports

  • Top Kids

Hero Banner, Action menu and Action panel Title Fonts Configurable The font family, font color, and font size on the Hero Banner, Action menu and Action panel title are configurable.

The persistent menu option is configurable as text or icon.

Brand configuration: Hero Banner Page Indicator

The page indicator for the Hero Banner is configurable (On/Off).

Brand configuration: Hamburger Menu Font Size Change Based on State

The font size of the hamburger menu item based on state is configurable:

Associate new posters to VOD assets Service Provider Operators can associate new and existing posters to VOD assets based on image type (unique size/ratio image) so that the correct posters are available for editorially created swim lanes, such as the Featured swim lane.
Associate new posters to Linear events Service Provider Operators can associate new posters to Linear assets based on classification so that the correct posters are available for editorially created swim lanes, such as the Featured swim lane.
Definition of TVoD Boxsets

Service Provider Operators can define Boxsets of TVODs for purchase (Collection of TVODs).When the user chooses a specific TVOD to purchase, they will be presented with a list of purchase options:

  • Purchase the specific TVOD (e.g. Harry Potter 1)

  • Other options: Available boxsets (e.g. All Harry Potter movies, All fantasy movies)

Support for third-party Metadata enrichment (Single asset) Service Provider Operators can enrich VOD metadata with additional content.

Curation UI: View Shows and Seasons in an existing Category

Service Provider Operators can view collapsed Series and Seasons in an already created classification, as well as view asset associations to Shows and Seasons from the Curation UI.

Known Issues

This section lists open and resolved issues for Cisco IVP Release 18.3.4. The issues describe unexpected behavior in IVP software releases.

The following open issues have been identified in IVP and have not been resolved.

Managed Device (ATV) Open Issues

DE25485 An Error “Channel is not Playable” with Error Code 0004 displayed for all the Channels from Ch#200 – Ch#207.
DE25486 Ch#10 is LOCKED even if the Parental Control is set to OFF.
DE25487 Crash observed randomly during video playback and navigating through menu options.
DE25488 Remote stopped working randomly during video playback and navigating the menu.
DE25489 None of the Menu items display any data until after reboot.
DE25490 Cannot exit the parental pin error pop-up until it times out. Sometimes it won’t time out, then Back key works.
DE25491 Progression bar of Catch-Up shows current progression of LIVE TV.
DE25492 Random App CRASH observed while changing the channel through Timeline/Up/Down.
DE25493 App Crash when box is Powered ON after it goes to Standby and exited to FSV.
DE24024 Application crashes by just launching Timeline in FSV.
DE24025 Binge Pop-Up keeps appearing even on LIVE/VOD screens if no action is taken and exited from VOD playback. Unusual UI displayed, such as Player Banner appearing on VOD Series screen.
DE24026 Sometimes only “Go-to Menu” option is displayed without giving option to go to Next Channel.
DE23587 HUB > ON DEMAND > VOD > Sub Options > Application Crash if EXIT/HOME key is selected in any sub-option of On Demand > VOD – Sub Option Asset list.
DE23913 Application crashes whenever you go to My Library > Series > Any Event > Press Exit/HOME Key.
DE23914 Press Home key > When it is in transition [Black Screen] press Home key again.
DE23594 The Metadata in a Coming Up Event Posters is truncated.
DE23592 See All Option is displayed in place of NEXT Event and is scrolled to last option in Timeline after tuning to different channel by selecting Up/Down.

Android Device Open Issues

iOS Device Open Issues

DE25376 On iPAD Pro, in Channel List, the current event with Play icon appears on the Next column.
DE25377 Play any service from the Guide grid and quit; app returns to the Guide CatchUp.
DE25418 App crashed twice when trying to launch the Channel screen from the Guide grid.
DE25419 Intermittently, Search is not working.
DE25420 From Guide, channels can't be added to Favorites list.
DE24892 Row for the Service 1, can't be visible as Row 1.
DE25380 On iPhone, when Action menu is launched from the Guide grid, Genre title is not visible.
DE24563 App crashes when we select My Genre (Kids, news) from Hub (Intermediate) -iPad Air.
DE25382 Across Action menu, background frames of the Action options on are not visible.

DE25505 When App is closed using device Home button and relaunched, respective to the last viewed screen (Hub Home/Live FSV), App is not able to populate (Metadata/FSV) the screen; instead shows black screen with buffering icon.
DE25507 Intermittently, Hub pages are not loading properly.
DE25509 There is no actual Catchup content; when selecting any event from the Catchup grid and playing it, it is the same content that is playing live for the same service.
DE25510 On Player banner, between (Start & End) Time and Year info, App shows some odd values, like 13~0, 9~0, 14~0, 8~0, 15~8.
DE25511 Restricted Content with (action option Unblock in Settings) is not handled properly.
