Introduction

This document describes the new features, open issues and closed issues for Cisco Infinite Video Platform (IVP) Release 18.3.3.

New and Changed Features

The following new or changed features have been introduced with this release.

Managed Device (ATV) Features

Content Advisory

The following content advisories are supported and displayed prior to the playback of the content (Linear, VOD, cDVR, Catchup):

  • V –contains violence

  • L –language may offend

  • S –sexual content may offend

  • C –content may offend

Tri Colored Progress Bar

Ability to display progress bar using three colors depicting the following segments:

  • Total duration of the program

  • Playable duration of the program

  • Duration from review buffer depth or from beginning of the program to current play position

IA Apps SwimLane in Hub

Service Provider Operators can configure a swimlane to display a list of native Android applications, as follows:

  • All installed applications.

  • All service provider pre-installed applications (system apps).

  • Editorial promoted application. If the user has not installed, the playstore will open and prompt the user to install.

  • One or more categories of Android applications.

New Version Message on First Time Install and Upgrade

Upon launching the application the first time after install or upgrade, a message is displayed after the sign-in screen and the user must select OK to continue.

PC and MAC Features

KV3-PC/Mac Screen UX: Roboto & Noto font support

The UI supports the following fonts:

Customer Support page

The Help page (Settings > Help) is configured to point to the Service Provider's Customer Support Help page, which typically provides customer support information such as FAQs, contact information and links to Chat. The link to the Help page is configurable.

Continue Watching –VOD

The Continue Watching swimlane contains the partially watched VOD programs for the household. This is applicable on the following screens filtered with respective genre:

  • TV Shows

  • Movies

  • Kids

Multi DRM encrypted playback (FairPlay) support on Safari browser Integrate with Cisco mDRM framework to support native DRM video playback.
Adult Filters

Users can enable or disable the Adult Filter in Settings to show or hide the adult content metadata (Linear, VOD, cDVR and Catchup) in the application. PIN validation is required to disable Adult Filter (OFF).

When Adult Filter is enabled (ON), the following metadata content is masked:

  • Program title is replaced with a default adult_program_title text Restricted Content.

  • Program poster is replaced with dynamic default poster using program title Restricted Content.

  • Synopsis is replaced with the masked text: All adult content metadata has been hidden as per your personalization settings.

mDRM: Error handling

IVP application handles all errors gracefully.

OAUTH:

  • Access token expiry

  • Refresh token expiry

  • Authentication token not valid

  • 401, 402, 403 and 404

License related:

  • License expiry

  • Reaching the maximum number of keys/licenses supported in Key rotation

  • HDCP

PIN confirmation on every parental rating protected event

Service Provider Operators can configure the PIN entry screen to be displayed on every parental rating protected event (linear, recorded content, VOD, Catchup).

  • Withoutgrace period—PIN entry screen is displayed every time the user tries to view the event or program, even when the user is watching the same linear channel and the parental rating is above the threshold set in the preferences by user.

  • With grace period in x minutes—PIN entry screen is displayed for any event (even if the event parental rating is above the threshold set in the preferences) until the grace period has elapsed after a successful verification of the PIN.

Adult Filters

Persistent Menu Alignment

The user interface is flexible for branding configuration of the padding for the persistent menu (top, right, bottom, left).

IVP Operations Hub Features

Monitoring: First set of 5 KPIs on Grafana with Prometheus

The following KPIs are available:

  • Linear Playback Success

  • Linear Playback Latency

  • Linear Schedule Metadata Availability

  • VOD Playback Success

  • VOD Playback Latency

Guidelines for adding new KPIs to the Grafana Dashboard are available.

Curation UI: Deleting a category

Service Provider Operators can delete a classification created in a catalog. All asset associations to the classification are lost on deletion of the classification.

Note 

Currently, only association to tree is deleted. Category still exists in the system.

Monitoring: Linear alerts and notifications for metadata ingest Service Providers will be notified of metadata ingest into the system for Live content via the Grafana dashboard.

Online Video Platform Features

Load optimization and management APIs added

Implemented a scalable method to report client events to IVP-A for multiple KPIs, including Bitrate changes, Trick modes, Subtitle and audio language changes, Standby in and out, Power On, System language change, Signal failures and STB connectivity.

VOD Workflow Support for PID/PAID Parameters for Dynamic Advertising

Support for the PID/PAID parameters in the session object response of the session manager for Dynamic Advertising.

Hide non-entitled SVOD content

IVP displays SVOD classifications that contain at least one entitled asset and does not display SVOD classifications without entitled assets.

Boxsets

Service Provider Operators can define boxsets of TVODs for purchase (Collection of TVODs). When the viewer chooses a specific TVOD to purchase, they will be presented with a list of purchase options:

  • Purchase the specific TVOD (for example, Harry Potter).

  • Other options: Available boxsets (for example, All Harry Potter movies, All fantasy movies).

Known Issues

This section lists open and resolved issues for Cisco IVP Release 18.3.3. The issues describe unexpected behavior in IVP software releases.
