Introduction

This document describes the new features, open issues and closed issues for Cisco Infinite Video Platform (IVP) Release 18.3.2.

New and Changed Features

The following new or changed features have been introduced with this release.

Managed Device (ATV) Features

Description

Search – Free Text Search A search button is available for searching free text. Users can enter free text on the Search screen using the alphanumeric keyboard.
Recommendations - Most Popular VOD - Inclusion Filter for Genre

Swimlanes are configured in the Hub to display the most popular VOD that is driven from the recommendation engine. The following genre based swimlanes are displayed on the Home screen:

  • Top Movies

  • Top TV Series

  • Top Sports

  • Top Kids

Recommendations – Most Popular Real Time Linear

A Top TV swimlane is configured in the Hub to display the most popular Linear watched NOW that is driven from the recommendation engine.

KV3-TV Screen UX: Catchup on Timeline View

Catch-up is available on the timeline view. Users can scroll left an right to see Catch-up and later events on the linear channel. Up to 10 assets (configurable) are viewable; See All is at the end to launch the channel screen. Selecting an event on the Catch-up timeline, launches the respective action menu.
VOD Series Screen The VOD Series screem displays the selected episode, or the option to continue watching the episode along with action buttons. All seasons of the VOD series are displayed, by Season, in swimlanes. Selecting any episode launches the playback.
Quick access to linear channels The On Air swimlane contains the list of linear channels that are available for the device. The currently playing linear program event information is displayed for each channel. The See All option launches the full content with all programs displayed for each linear channel. Selecting any program tunes to that program.

Recommendations - Most Popular VOD - Inclusion Filter for Genre

Swimlanes are configured in the Hub to display the most popular VOD that is driven from the recommendation engine. The following genre based swimlanes are displayed on the Home screen:

  • Top Movies

  • Top TV Series

  • Top Sports

  • Top Kids

Multi DRM encrypted playback (Widevine) support on Chrome browser Integrate with Cisco mDRM framework to support native DRM (Widevine) for video playback.
ABR playback resiliency: keepalive enhancement The device periodically sends client information to OVP as part of the keepalive session update. ABR sessions are made resilient to interruptions to IVP database access.
DVR Playback from Last Viewed Position When a user selects partially viewed, recorded content (either on a swimlane or on the full content screen) the action menu displays the following buttons:
  • Play—resume watching the recorded content.

  • Restart—play the recorded content from the beginning.

Linear IP HLS ABR Unicast Closed Caption (CC1)/WebVTT Subtitle support Users can enable or disable the Subtitle (closed captions) feature, which allows hearing impaired users access to content. Subtitles are presented with legible color and font, punctuation, position on screen and length of captions.
Watershed Service providers can configure the parental rating and duration of the day that watershed is enabled so that content (Linear only) can be watched without PIN validation.

Quick access to linear channels

The On Air swimlane contains the list of linear channels that are available for the device. The currently playing linear program event information is displayed for each channel. The See All option launches the full content with all programs displayed for each linear channel. Selecting any program tunes to that program.

Android Device Features

KV3-Phone/Tablet Screen UX: Guide-Filters-Favorites If a user has selected channels as favorites, they can filter the Guide by Favorite Channels and only those channels are displayed. If no channels have been set as a favorite, the option is not available.
ABR playback resiliency: keepalive enhancement The device periodically sends client information to OVP as part of the keepalive session update. ABR sessions are made resilient to interruptions to IVP database access.
Cloud-based Timeshift (Live Pause/Review buffer)

Users can pause an event and resume watching. On pause, the review buffer is utilized for scrubbing to the past or forward up to live.

  • When event is paused within the review buffer depth, the user can scrub within the event, to the beginning, and up to live.

  • When event is paused with review buffer containing future event(s):

    • User can scrub to the past, up to the beginning.

    • User can scrub forward within the current event.

    • When the user plays back to the next event, they cannot scrub to previous event.

  • If the pause duration is greater than the time-shift buffer depth, when the user resumes, the playback resumes at the farthest point in the past.

Continue Watching – VOD

The Continue Watching swimlane contains the partially watched VOD programs for the household. This is applicable on the following screens filtered with respective genre:

  • TV Shows

  • Movies

  • Kids

Application welcome screens

On first use of the app after installation or upgrade, the user is shown a series of screens describing what's new in this version of the application. The screens are displayed in the following order upon launch:

  • Splash screen

  • Welcome screen

  • Sign-in screen

The user can swipe through all of the screens and the page indicator is shown. They can also skip the Welcome screen and go directly to the Sign-in screen. If the user signs out of the application, on launch the Welcome screen is displayed.

Playback with multi-DRM using FairPlay & HLS

The device can playback content that is encrypted using FairPlay with the multi-DRM framework and the data plane using HLS streaming.

IVP Operations Hub Features

Description

On Demand – View associated offers for titles For a selected VOD asset in the Curation UI, Service Providers can view a list of offers associated with the title and offer details such as Offer ID, Name and Type of offer.
Create new Editorial classification/category Service Provider operators can create and edit editorial classifications with metadata and associate assets to the classification. The following metadata can be edited for a classification: Title, Short Title, Long Title, Description, Parental Rating.
Support for multiple Channel Posters for a Channel Service Provider operators can add more than one poster for a Channel to allow different poster layouts on different devices.

Create Subscription offers and associate to channels

Service Provider operators can create subscription offers and associate the offers to channels in the Channel UI.

Online Video Platform Features

Description

Backward compatability with CableLabs ADI 1.1

The VODIS system will ingest, delete, or update an asset when using an ADI that complies with the CableLabs specification and Cisco ADI 1.1. This allows for compatibility with the Standard ADI specification.

Known Issues

This section lists open and resolved issues for Cisco IVP Release 18.3.2. The issues describe unexpected behavior in IVP software releases.

The following open issues have been identified in IVP and have not been resolved.

Managed Device (ATV) Open Issues

DE24024 Application crashes by just launching Timeline in FSV.
DE24025 Binge Pop-Up keeps appearing even on LIVE/VOD pages if no action is taken and exited from VOD playback. Unusual UI displayed, like Player Banner appearing on VOD Series page, etc.
DE24026 Binge > Sometimes only “Go-to Menu” option is displayed without giving option to go to Next Channel.
DE23912 Application Crash whenever tuned to any different channel. It restarts with Cisco logo and tunes to the channel that was last tuned before crash.
DE23913 Application crash whenever you go to My Library > Series > Any Event > Press Exit/HOME.
DE23914 Crash > Press Home key > When it is in transition [Black Screen] press Home key again.

Android Device Open Issues

DE23617 The App Hangs when selecting Recommendations after selecting Pin Management.
DE24080 When we select pause and play in FSV, the event name and other action buttons disappear and re-appear after 4-5 seconds.
DE24084 For certain Catch up events (E.g Nat GeoWild), "-15" and "15"option in FSV is not aligned properly.
DE24088 Error popup 101 is not disappearing when wifi is disconnected and connected when the service is in paused state.
DE24105 When an event is paused and a new event starts, only the progress bar is updated and not the event info.
DE24106 When we restart we are not able to perform seek.
DE24108 Error 001 is displayed when performing seek/pause.
DE24112 RB is getting lost when we perform pause and seek few times.
DE24113 For Catch up event, when wifi is disconnected and then reconnected, the playback is starting from the event start.
DE24115 In "Recently viewed " Swimlane, although the service is added as Favorite, it displays the option to Add To Favorites.
DE24117 Sign out option is not displayed when we select from settings.
DE24118 The Video plays even when the parental pin popup is displayed-observed twice.
DE24119 The duration while performing Seek for Linear service is not proper.
DE24120 When we minimize and maximize the app, the pause state is not retained.
DE24121 When we record an event, we are seeing a red color for "TV-PG" in Action Menu.
