Cisco TelePresence Advanced Media Gateway Series

Endpoint only receiving CIF resolution via the AM Gateway

My Cisco TelePresence endpoint is only receiving CIF resolution via the AM gateway from Lync/OCS clients

HD resolution needs to be specifically enabled for each Lync/OCS server pool before Lync/OCS clients can make 720p calls.

To enable HD resolution when using Lync:

  1. Run the Lync Server management shell (CSPS) as Administrator.
  2. Enter the following command: Set-CsMediaConfiguration Identity global MaxVideoRateAllowed hd720p15m
  3. You can verify this setting by entering the command Get-CsMediaConfiguration and the MaxVideoRateAllowed setting should be Hd720p15M.

To enable HD resolution when using OCS:

  1. Open the Microsoft Office Communications Server 2007 management window.
  2. Right-click on the desired server pool, and select Properties > Front End Properties
  3. On the Video tab, ensure that Maximum video quality is set to HD720p - 1280x720 - (1.5Mbps).

Note: On some Quad Core PCs, Microsoft Office Communicator (MOC) does not successfully detect the correct processor and will believe it is running on one much less powerful. The MOC client will therefore only send CIF resolution to the AM Gateway, which can then only send CIF resolution to the Cisco TelePresence endpoint at the other end of the call. If you have the Maximum video quality set to HD720p - 1280x720 - (1.5Mbps) and you do not experience 720p resolution in calls between two MOC clients, then this may be the case. Please contact Microsoft for further support.
