This guide provides information to help you use the Cisco Unified Communications Manager (Unified CM) Administration interface to configure the Cisco TelePresence IX5000 and IX5200.
Before beginning the tasks in this guide, verify the following:
Cisco Unified Communications Manager Administration supports the following operating system browsers:
– Microsoft Internet Explorer (IE) 8, IE 9
IX systems can use either a Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) server to achieve connectivity, or you can configure a static IP address. DHCP is configured by your network administrator. To configure a static IP address, follow the steps in the “Configuring a IX5000 or IX5200 System With a Static Network Address” section of the IX5000 and IX5200 First-Time Setup document.
You download the IX system image files from Cisco.com, and apply them to your system using Unified CM. For the steps used to complete this task, see the “Adding and Configuring the IX System COP Files” section.
You need the codec MAC address to configure your system in Unified CM. There are two MAC addresses on the codec. Use the address that is nearest the Uplink and EX1 Ethernet connections. Figure 1 provides an example.
Tip You can also find this address on the blue screen while your system is booting up.

For complete information about software and firmware compatibility for the IX system, see the “Cisco TelePresence IX system Software Compatibility” document at the following URL:
https://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/td/docs/telepresence/ix_sw/8_x/compatibility/ix__compat_8_0.html
Bandwidth requirements for various levels of video are listed in the “1080p Main Video” section of the Administration Guide for Cisco TelePresence Software Release IX 8.
During a call, the Media is Encrypted icon (closed lock) is displayed on the screen only when the Device Security mode is set to encrypted and cluster security mode is set to 1 (mixed mode). While configuring your system, check the following settings:
Use the information in Table 1 as a guide for supported Unified CM characters and digits that are used to configure and maintain the Cisco TelePresence system. For general Unified CM support documentation, see the Unified CM documentation roadmap for your release on Cisco.com:

Note Unified CM no longer supports the ‘$’ (currency symbol) in system passwords.
