Third Party Dual-Rate Optical SFP Support for Cisco ME 2600X Series Ethernet Access Switch
First Published: June 14, 2013This document provides information about the deployment of supported third party dual-rate optical small form-factor pluggable (SFP) modules on the Cisco ME 2600X switch.
Prerequisites for Third Party Dual-Rate Optical SFP
You must only use the following Cisco supported third party dual-rate optical SFP modules:

When Cisco ME 2600X SFP and the CPE SFP, both work in the auto-sensing mode, the negotiated speed of the mated optics is not guaranteed. Cisco ME 2600X SFP may negotiate a speed of either 100 Mbps or 1 Gbps.
•
Only when CPE SFP is working at a fixed speed, Cisco ME 2600X SFP can negotiate the same speed as CPE SFP.
•
When using dual-rate SFP modules that do not support duplexing or 10 Mbps speed, the following CLI commands are accepted but not applied:

duplex full

duplex half
–
speed 10
Information About Third Party Dual-Rate Optical SFP
Cisco ME 2600X supports third party dual-rate optical SFPs and auto-sensing. When the dual-rate
optical SFP is plugged-in, Cisco ME 2600X auto-senses the speed at which the mated optics is working
and works at that speed. If the speed of the mated optics or CPE changes then the Cisco ME 2600X
auto-senses the new speed and starts working at the new speed.
