This chapter contains the following sections:
The following table describes the minimum and recommended environment requirements that the hosts in your Cisco Nexus 1000V for KVM deployment must meet.
Number of host machines for Red Hat Enterprise Linux OSP |
Minimum Requirement |
Recommended Requirement (Cluster) |
---|---|---|
Director |

Note | For detailed information about environment requirements, see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 Director Installation and Usage |
The following table describes the minimum Undercloud requirements that the hosts in your Cisco Nexus 1000V for KVM deployment must meet.
Component |
Minimum Requirement |
---|---|
Processor |
|
RAM |
6 GB |
Disk space |
40 GB |
NIC |
2 x 1 Gbps NICs. |
OS |
Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.2 |
Note | For detailed information about Undercloud requirements, see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 Director Installation and Usage |
The Undercloud requires a minimum of two networks: a provisioning network and an external network. The RHEL-OSP Director uses the provisioning network to provision and manage the Overcloud nodes. The external network is used to remotely connect to all the nodes.
Note | For detailed information about networking requirements, see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 Director Installation and Usage |
Note | The Virtual Supervisor Module (VSM) management interface is not supported on the provisioning interface. |
Overcloud node requirements include identifying requirements for Compute nodes and Controller nodes. This section describes Overcloud requirements for Cisco Nexus 1000V for KVM.
Note | For detailed information about Overcloud requirements, see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 Director Installation and Usage |
The compute nodes host the virtual machine instances launched in the virtual environment.
Component | Minimum Requirement |
---|---|
Processor |
64-bit x86 processor with support for the Intel 64 or AMD 64 CPU extensions. |
RAM |
6 GB |
Hard disk |
40 GB |
NIC |
2 x 1 Gbps NICs |
Note | Ensure that Intelligent Platform Management Interface (IPMI) functionality is enabled on each compute node. Refer to your server configuration manual for information on how to enable IPMI on the server. |
Note | For detailed information about compute node requirements, see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform 7 Director Installation and Usage |
The controller nodes host the core RHEL OpenStack Platform services such as High Availability services and also act as Network nodes hosting services like DHCP agent and L3 agents.
Component | Minimum Requirement |
