Overview

sd Delete a standby from the cluster

Perform this task when you need to delete a warm standby node from the cluster and prepare it for future reuse or decommissioning.

Follow these steps to delete a standby node from the cluster:

Before you begin

Shut down the standby node you plan to delete. See the Guidelines and Limitations for Warm Standby on Cisco APICS for more information.

Procedure

1.

On the menu bar, choose System > Controllers.

2.

In the Navigation pane, expand Controllers > apic_controller_name > Cluster as Seen by Node.

3.

In the Controllers pane, select the node and click Actions>Delete Nodes.

Note

Shutdown the node that must be deleted and then delete the node. Once you have deleted the node, it must be disconnected from the fabric. You cannot add the deleted standby node back to the cluster until you have performed a factory reset for this node.

The selected standby node is removed from the cluster.

What to do next

  • Physically disconnect the deleted node from the network.

  • To add this node back to the cluster in the future, perform a factory reset on it.
