This appendix contains hardware and software specifications for the ONS 15454 SDH.
•Total bandwidth: 240 GBits/s (Gbps)
•Data plane bandwidth: 160 GBits/s (Gbps)
•SDH plane bandwidth: 80 GBits/s (Gbps)
Slot Assignments for Cards
The following slot assignments are applicable to the ONS 15454 SDH:
•Total card slots: 17 (Slots 1 to 17 in the lower part of the shelf for common cards, Ethernet cards, and optical (traffic) cards
•Multispeed slots (any card speeds up to STM-16): Slots 1 to 4, 14 to 17
•High-speed slots (any card speeds up to STM-64): Slots 5, 6, 12, 13
•Slots 6 and 12 are not to be used for electrical (traffic) cards because they have no corresponding FMEC slots
•TCC2 (Timing Communication and Control): Slots 7 and 11
•Cross Connect cards (XC10G, XC-VXL-10G, and XC-VXL-2.5G): Slots 8 and 10
•AIC-I (Alarm Interface Card): Slot 9
Slot Assignments for FMECs
The following slot assignments are applicable for FMECs in the ONS 15454 SDH:
•Total FMEC slots: 12 slots (Slots 18 to 29) in the upper part of the shelf for FMECs
•FMEC Slot 18 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 1.
•FMEC Slot 19 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 2.
•FMEC Slot 20 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 3.
•FMEC Slot 21 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 4.
•FMEC Slot 22 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 5.
•FMEC Slot 23 is used for the alarm and power card called the MIC-A/P.
•FMEC Slot 24 is used for the timing, craft, and power card called the MIC-C/T/P.
•FMEC Slot 25 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 13.
•FMEC Slot 26 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 14.
•FMEC Slot 27 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 15.
•FMEC Slot 28 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 16.
•FMEC Slot 29 supports an electrical (traffic) card in Slot 17.

Note The OC-3/STM-1, OC-12/STM-4, OC-48/STM-16, OC-192/STM-64 cards except OC192 LR/STM64 LH 1550, and the optical Ethernet (traffic) cards E1000-2-G, G1000-4, G1K-4, and ML1000-2 are Class 1 laser products (IEC 60825-1 2001-01/Class I laser product (21CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11).
Note The OC192 LR/STM64 LH 1550 card is a Class 1M laser product ((IEC 60825-1 2001-01)/Class I laser product (21CFR 1040.10 and 1040.11).
