The documentation set for this product strives to use bias-free language. For the purposes of this documentation set, bias-free is defined as language that does not imply discrimination based on age, disability, gender, racial identity, ethnic identity, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, and intersectionality. Exceptions may be present in the documentation due to language that is hardcoded in the user interfaces of the product software, language used based on RFP documentation, or language that is used by a referenced third-party product. This chapter includes the hardware, software, network requirement for installing Cisco Virtual Managed Services (VMS).
Note: The requirements listed in this document are the minimal system requirements.
The VMS installer creates at least eight 50 GB volumes and nine 10 GB volumes, plus two 50 GB volumes for each service pack. You need 600 GB for the full deployment. Ensure you have sufficient OpenStack Cinder volume.
■CentOS-7-x86_64-GenericCloud-1611.qcow2
■OpenStack releases: VMS was tested on OpenStack Keystone V2 and V3.
For more information on other requirements specific to OpenStack, see OpenStack Tasks.
This section details the network configurations required for the VMS installation. Add the network configurations to the main.yml property file during the installation. This file is typically stored in /vms-3.3.0/ansible/group_vars/all. Though this step is performed at a later point during installation, make sure that you meet the requirements mentioned in this topic before proceeding with the installation.
Please see the following table.
Network Requirements |
Comments/Actions |
---|---|
Reserve 7 floating IPs. These floating IPs are required for: ■One for dhcp on the OpenStack network ■Two floating IP's per datacenter. This is required only if you are installing VMS in Dual Data Center mode. |
|
(SDWAN Service Pack-Specific Requirement) Six NAT IPs. Three NAT IPs for Active DC and Three NAT IPs for Passive DC will need to be opened for connectivity to vOrchestrator. For more information, see Installing VMS Platform in Dual Data Center Mode. |
|
Note: Register two floating IP of the HA proxy to the DNS of your choice. Also, verify that the DNS resolves the hostname of the machine to the correct IP address. 2. Register your sub-domain. Must be unique in your domain. Note the sub-domain name and use it while specifying the properties in the properties file during the installation time. For more information on the properties file, see Configuring Main.yml File. |
|
It is recommended to rename the network as “external” or rename the variable in the main.yml file to the name you have set for your network. For more information, see OpenStack Specific Tasks. |

The VMS Installation Container must have HTTP access to the following ports on the Openstack host that VMS is being installed on: |
Download the VMS image file that contains all VMS binaries and pull that to the Docker container image. The section, Preparing for the Installation covers information on the Docker container and various variables required for VMS installation.
