Installing the MWTM 6.1.1 Patch on Linux
This chapter describes how to install the MWTM 6.1.1 patch on a Linux system.

Overview of the Patch Process
When you start the MWTM Patch process you will see this installation option:
•
Upgrade all installed MWTM components to 6.1.1 - Use this option to upgrade all the installed MWTM components to 6.1.1 including server and client components.
Patch Installation Prerequisites
Make sure your Linux system meets the requirements listed in Server System Requirements, page 1-6.
Installing the MWTM 6.1.1 Patch on Linux
Installing the MWTM server requires the following actions, in this order.

Preliminary Activities

Starting the Patch Upgrade Tool
3.
Concluding Server Installation
Preliminary Activities
Complete these preliminary steps:
Note
These steps include logging in as the root user. As the root user, you can adversely affect your operating environment if you are unaware of the effects of the commands you use. If you are a relatively inexperienced UNIX user, limit your activities as the root user to the tasks described in this guide.
Step 1
Obtain the MWTM 6.1.1 Patch zip file from cisco.com
Step 2
If you have not already logged in, log in as the root user:
> Password: root-password
If you are already logged in, but not as the root user, use the su command to change your login to root:
# Password:
root-password
Step 3
Make a directory to unzip the MWTM 6.1.1 patch file to and change to this directory.
Note
Do not use the /tmp directory for this temporary unzip location. Using the /tmp directory can cause unexpected results.
Step 4
While in this directory (or in any location with enough free disk space of 400 MB to hold the patch) unzip the MWTM 6.1.1 patch file
# unzip mwtm611-linux-patch-k9.zip
Starting the Patch Upgrade Tool
Step 1
Start the upgrade tool by entering the following command:
At this point the upgrade process validates that the correct upgrade path is being followed. If the upgrade path is not correct you may see the following message and the upgrade process will exit.
MWTM Version 6.1 Installation Not Detected
An existing installation of MWTM Version 6.1 is required.
Step 2
The upgrade tool checks the server and client images, then displays the installation menu:
1) Review README File First (Recommended)
2) Upgrade All Installed Components to 6.1.1
Please choose an option -> 2
Choose one of the following upgrade options:
•
To read the latest information about the MWTM in the README file, enter 1, then press Enter.
The README file contains late-breaking information about the MWTM that might not be found in the other product documentation.
•
To upgrade both the MWTM server and client, enter 2, then press Enter.
The server component is upgraded first and then the client component. For servers where only one component is installed only that component is upgraded.
•
To exit the upgrade tool, enter 3, then press Enter.
If you selected option 2, the upgrade tool displays information similar to the following:

Press Return to continue ->
Press Enter.
The upgrade tool then performs the upgrade on the server and then the client components. After the upgrade process is complete the following message is displayed:
Press Return to Continue to MWTM Startup Options ->
Press Enter
Concluding Server Installation
After the upgrade tool is complete it presents the following menu:
1) Start MWTM Server and Client
2) Start MWTM Server Only
Please choose an option ->
Choose one of the following upgrade options:
•
To start the MWTM 6.1.1 server and client, enter 1, then press Enter.
The MWTM server is started and then a MWTM client is started.
•
To start the MWTM 6.1.1 server only, enter 2, then press Enter.
The MWTM server is started.
•
To exit the upgrade tool, enter 3, then press Enter.
