Regenerating a Root Password

This appendix explains how to regenerate a Cisco ANA root password, as follows:

Step 1 Open a Telnet/SSH session to the gateway machine and login with username sheer and password.

Note It is recommended that the default password for the sheer account is changed during installation. The default password for user sheer is "sheer", but if you have changed the password use your new password.

Step 2 Run the system password reset tool, enter:
resetSystemPassword.pl
Note The Cisco ANA database should be up and running before running the system password reset tool.

Step 3 The tool will prompt for the following parameters:

•New password for Cisco ANA user root.

•Oracle scheme username.

•Oracle scheme password.

In case of failure, check the Oracle scheme username and password that was provided and try again.
