Creates an explicit prefix match rule and adds it to a Route Control Profile policy for route filtering on an L3Out.

Before you begin

  • Configure the tenant and VRF.

  • Deploy the VRF on the leaf switch.

Create an explicit prefix match rule, and then reference the rule from a Route Control Profile policy under an L3Out.

Procedure

  1. In the navigation pane, expand Tenants > tenant-name > Policies > Protocol > Match Rules.

  2. Right-click Match Rules, and choose Create Match Rule for a Route Map.

The Create Match Rule dialog box opens.

  3. In the Name field, enter a name for the match rule, and configure the required community terms.

  4. Configure the explicit prefix for your Cisco APIC release:

    1. For releases before Cisco APIC Release 4.2(3), expand Match Prefix and configure the prefix as follows:
      • In the IP field, enter a bridge domain subnet or external network prefix.

      • Optional: In the Description field, describe the route destination policy.

      • Select Aggregate to match more-specific prefixes.

      • Click Update.

    2. For Cisco APIC Release 4.2(3) and later, click the + icon in the Match Prefix area.

The Create Match Route Destination Rule dialog box opens.

    3. For Cisco APIC Release 4.2(3) and later, enter a bridge domain subnet or external network prefix in the IP field.
    4. Optional: For Cisco APIC Release 4.2(3) and later, enter a description in the Description field.
    5. Optional: For Cisco APIC Release 4.2(3) and later, select Aggregate to match more-specific prefixes.

In the Greater Equal Mask and Less Equal Mask fields, enter prefix lengths from 0 through 128. A value of 0 means unspecified.

For more information about these fields, see Match Rules.

    6. For Cisco APIC Release 4.2(3) and later, click Submit in the Create Match Route Destination Rule dialog box.
  5. In the Create Match Rule dialog box, click Submit.

Different match types use a logical AND operation, so a route must satisfy every configured match type. Multiple prefixes in Match Destination Rules use a logical OR operation, so a route must match at least one prefix.

  6. Under L3Outs, choose the L3Out on which you want to configure the Route Control Profile policy.

  7. Right-click Route Maps for Import and Export Route Control, and choose Create Route Map for Import and Export Route Control.

  8. In the Create Route Map for Import and Export Route Control dialog box, enter a name for the Route Control Profile policy.

To configure the default export route map, use the name default-export.

  9. From the Type drop-down list, choose Match Routing Policy Only.

This type uses only the Route Control Profile policy to generate the route map. The alternative, Match Prefix and Routing Policy, combines subnet and policy information.

  10. In the Contexts area, click the + icon.

The Create Route Control Context dialog box opens.

  11. Enter a name for the route control context, configure the required fields, and choose Permit or Deny as the action.

    The default action is Permit.

  12. From the Match Rule drop-down list, choose the match rule that you created.

  13. In the Set Rule field, choose Create Set Rules for a Route Map to assign attributes to matching routes.

In the Create Set Rules for a Route Map dialog box, enter a name, select the required attributes, and click Finish.

  14. In the Create Route Control Context dialog box, click OK.

  15. In the Create Route Map for Import and Export Route Control dialog box, click Submit.

The Route Control Profile policy contains the explicit prefix match rule and is available for import, export, or redistribution route control.
