Want to summarize with AI?

Modifies an existing L3Out interface or adds an interface to a logical interface profile, including path, encapsulation, addressing, MTU, and DSCP settings.

Before you begin

  • Install the Cisco ACI fabric. Ensure that each Cisco APIC is online and that the cluster is formed and healthy.

  • Obtain a Cisco APIC fabric-administrator account that can modify the required fabric infrastructure configuration.

  • Register the target leaf switches in the Cisco ACI fabric, and verify that they are available.

  • If the L3Out interfaces use port channels, configure the port channels.

Use this procedure to modify an existing L3Out interface or add an interface to a logical interface profile.

Note

The order of the fields in the GUI can differ from the order in this procedure.

Procedure

  1. From the menu bar, choose Tenants > All Tenants .

  2. In the Work pane, double-click the tenant name.

  3. In the Navigation pane, expand tenant_name > Networking > L3Outs > L3Out_name > Logical Node Profiles > node_profile_name > Logical Interface Profiles , and select the logical interface profile.

  4. Select the Routed Sub-Interfaces, Routed Interfaces, SVI, or Floating SVI tab.

  5. Double-click an existing interface, or click Create (+) to add an interface.

  6. For an interface type other than Floating SVI, configure the path:

    1. For a new interface, select a value from the Path Type field.

For a routed subinterface or routed interface, select Port or Direct Port Channel.

For an SVI, select Port, Direct Port Channel, or Virtual Port Channel.

    2. If Path Type is Port, select a node from the Node list.
    3. From the Path list, select the interface ID or port-channel name.

An interface ID is similar to eth1/1. The port-channel name is the interface policy-group name for the direct or virtual port channel.

  7. For a floating SVI, select a node from the Anchor Node list.

  8. In the Description field, enter a description of the L3Out interface.

  9. For a routed subinterface, SVI, or floating SVI, select VLAN from the Encap list, and enter the VLAN ID.

  10. For an SVI or floating SVI, configure the encapsulation and interface-state settings:

    1. From Encap Scope, select VRF or Local.
      • VRF: Uses the same transit VLAN for a specific VLAN encapsulation on all L3Outs in the VRF.

      • Local: Uses a unique transit VLAN for each L3Out.

    2. From Auto State, select Enabled or Disabled.
      • Disabled: Keeps the SVI or floating SVI active when no interface in the corresponding VLAN is operational.

      • Enabled: Places the SVI or floating SVI in the down state when all ports in the corresponding VLAN are down.

    3. From Mode, select the VLAN tagging mode.
  11. In the IPv4 Primary / IPv6 Preferred Address field, enter the primary address of the path that is attached to the L3Out.

  12. In the IPv4 Secondary / IPv6 Additional Addresses table, click +, and enter a secondary or additional address.

  13. In the Link-local Address field, enter an IPv6 link-local address to override the system-generated address.

  14. In the MAC Address field, enter the MAC address of the path that is attached to the L3Out.

  15. In the MTU (bytes) field, enter a maximum transmission unit from 576 through 9216 bytes, or enter inherit to inherit the MTU.

  16. From the Target DSCP list, select the differentiated services code point for the path that is attached to the L3Out.

  17. Click Submit.

The interface settings are saved in the logical interface profile.
