Configures an external bridge profile and associates an SVI with the profile by sending XML payloads through the Cisco APIC REST API.

Before you begin

Create the regular SVIs and configure the leaf switches with the required access encapsulations. For instructions, see Configuring SVI Interface Encapsulation Scope Using the REST API.

Send XML payloads through the Cisco APIC REST API to create an external bridge profile and group SVIs that use different access encapsulations.

Procedure

  1. Send a POST request with an XML payload similar to the following example to create an external bridge profile:

    Example:

    <fvTenant name="t1" dn="uni/tn-t1">
                        <l3extBdProfile name="bd100" status=""/>
                        </fvTenant>

  2. Send a POST request with an XML payload similar to the following example to associate a regular SVI with the external bridge profile:

                        <l3extLIfP name="i1">
                        <l3extRsPathL3OutAtt encap="vlan-108"

  3. For floating nodes, send a POST request with an XML payload similar to the following example to specify a separate encapsulation:

The SVI is associated with the external bridge profile and can use an access encapsulation that differs from the encapsulations of other grouped SVIs.
