Patch installation workflow

This document provides installation instructions for Cisco Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions version 2.0.1, including patch file versions.

Summary

The following section lists the steps to follow, in the correct order, when installing the 2.0.1 patch release of Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions.

You can upgrade to Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions 2.0.1 only from version 2.0.

The upgrade process is disruptive. Perform it during a maintenance window. During the upgrade, some Crosswork processes may report as unhealthy or degraded. Their status usually will update and applications will restart within 30 minutes. To ensure the upgrade proceeds smoothly:

  • Before installing the next patch file, wait until the system status reports as "Healthy".

  • If you encounter errors during patch installation, or the system status does not return to a "Healthy" state within 30 minutes, contact your Cisco Customer Experience representative immediately.

Patch installation prerequisites

This section describes the prerequisites you must meet to install the Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions version 2.0.1 patch:

  • Upgrade your single Virtual Machine (SVM) installation of Crosswork Workflow Manager 2.0 to version 2.0.1. For instructions, see the Crosswork Workflow Manager 2.0.1 Patch Installation Guide. This guide is available for download by Cisco customers at software.cisco.com.

  • Download the following patch files to a secure storage resource accessible via SCP from your upgraded Crosswork Workflow Manager server:

    • Crosswork Infra 7.1.1 patch: signed-cw-na-infra-patch-7.1.1-28_release-250922.tar.gz

    • Crosswork EMS Lite 7.1.1 patch: signed-cw-na-ems-lite-patch-7.1.1-11-release-250917.tar.gz

    • Crosswork Workflow Manager CAPP patch: signed-cw-na-cwm-2.0.1-12-releasecwm-201-250924.tar.gz

    • Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions CAPP patch: signed-cw-na-cwm-sol-patch-2.0.1-10-releasecwms-201-250917.tar.gz

  • Ensure you have Cisco Crosswork Controller Administrator user credentials.

  • Identify the Management IP address (either a physical IP address or the Virtual IP address) used for your Crosswork SVM deployment.

  • Back up your data. For more information, see Manage Crosswork Network Controller Backup and Restore. Additionally, the server being patched should have sufficient space to unarchive and copy the files:

    • At least 5GB of free space in the /home/cw-admin/ directory.

    • At least 1GB of free space in the /tmp/ directory.

  • Update Cisco NSO to version 6.4.1.3. For installation instructions, refer to the Upgrade NSO documentation.

Install the 2.0.1 patch files

In this task, you will install these four patches in the following order:

  1. Crosswork Infra 7.1.1 patch

  2. Crosswork EMS Lite 7.1.1 patch

  3. Crosswork Workflow Manager CAPP patch

  4. Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions CAPP patch

Before you begin

Complete the tasks listed in installation prerequisites.

Procedure

Step 1

Log on to Crosswork and click on Administration > Crosswork Manager > Crosswork Summary to check the health status of your system. If any components are unhealthy or degraded, resolve the issues or contact your Cisco Customer Experience representative before proceeding.

Step 2

Click on Administration > Crosswork Manager > Application Management. The Platform Infrastructure and other installed applications are displayed as tiles.

Step 3

Click on the Add File (.tar.gz) option to add the patch file that you downloaded. The first time you perform this step, use the Crosswork Infra 7.1.1 patch patch file, signed-cw-na-infra-patch-7.1.1-28_release-250922.tar.gz.

The Add File (tar.gz) via Secure Copy popup window is displayed.

Step 4

Enter the relevant information and click Add.

Step 5

Once the patch file is added, you can observe the existing application tile displaying an Upgrade prompt. Click the upgrade prompt to install the patch file.

Step 6

In the Upgrade pop-up screen, select the new version that you want to upgrade to, and click Upgrade. Click on Job History to see the progress of the upgrade operation.

Step 7

After the installation is complete, go to Administration > Crosswork Manager and confirm all of the applications are reporting a Healthy status.

Step 8

Repeat steps 2 to 7 to add and then install the following patch files, in this order:

  1. Crosswork EMS Lite 7.1.1 patch: signed-cw-na-ems-lite-patch-7.1.1-11-release-250917.tar.gz

  2. Crosswork Workflow Manager CAPP patch: signed-cw-na-cwm-2.0.1-12-releasecwm-201-250924.tar.gz

  3. Crosswork Workflow Manager Solutions CAPP patch: signed-cw-na-cwm-sol-patch-2.0.1-10-releasecwms-201-250917.tar.gz
