Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway 1.0 Release Notes

Introduction

Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway is a model-driven data collection platform that enables real-time data collection from multi-protocol capable devices.

Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway enables service providers to quickly deploy collectors. It provides central visibility into services collecting data and type of data being collected.

Crosswork Data Gateway can be integrated with Cisco Crosswork Cloud as well as with applications built by the customer.

Release Dates

Cisco releases updated builds on the Cisco Support & Download site when needed.

The below table lists only the software versions with which Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway was tested. Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway allows you to expand device coverage by means of custom packages (see Section Manage Custom Software Packages in respective On Premise application user guide with which you plan to use Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway).


Platform Support

Crosswork data Gateway 1.0 was validated with the following platforms:

  • IOS-XR Devices (ASR 9000 and NCS5500)

  • IOS-XE Devices (ASR 1000 and ASR 900)

  • NX-OS Devices ( N7K and N9K)

Usage Guidelines and Important Notes

This section provides guidelines and important notes to consider when using Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway.

Installation and Configuration

For configuration and installation procedures, see the Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway 1.0 Installation Guide.

  • Use VMware vCenter for OVA deployment.

  • Use the same NTP source and server to avoid time synchronization issues.

  • Confirm that the DNS and NTP servers are properly configured.

Features and Enhancements

The following table describes the features in Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway 1.0:

    • gRPC Dial-in Mode

    • gRPC Dial-out Mode

    • TCP Dial-out Mode

Enables real-time data collection from multi-protocol capable devices and supports both On-Prem and Cloud services.

Output Channels

  • Kafka

  • gRPC

Crosswork Data Gateway can use External Kafka or gRPC servers as target destinations to send collected data.

Scale - characterize and publish

Highly scalable and efficient in that it enables service providers to quickly program and deploy collectors. Crosswork Data Gateway provides central visibility into services collecting data and type of data being collected.

Custom Device Package Support

Allows third party device data collection by means of custom device packages. Lets you register and deploy two types of Custom Packages:

1. Custom Device Packages

2. Custom MIBs

Collection Vitals

Exposes vitals of its containers and applications allowing you to monitor health of all the containers and applications.

Centralized logging

Supports remote syslog.

Functional Image Containers Upgrade

Supports automated upgrade of functional image containers across Crosswork Data Gateway instances.

IOS XRv Devices

The maximum number of allowable concurrent incoming SSH sessions in IOS XRv devices is 110.

The device closes the connection after number of sessions reaches this limit.

Nexus 9000 Device

Status toggles between error and active for N9K with MDT DIAL_OUT.

MDT ( gRPC DIAL OUT) on N9k and N7k (admin VDC) throws Transmit Error and no data is pu shed to External Kafka. Debug with platform dev is in progress.

IOS XRv Devices

Triggering SNMP traps on IOS XRv devices causes connectivity issues as the resources on IOS XRv devices cannot handle the traffic load coming from SNMP Traps.

Cisco Bug Search Tool

You can use the Cisco Bug Search Tool to search for a specific bug or to search for all bugs in a release.

  1. Go to the Cisco Bug Search Tool.

  2. Enter your registered Cisco.com username and password, and click Log In.

    The Bug Search page opens.

    If you do not have a Cisco.com username and password, you can register here.


  3. Use any of these options to search for bugs, and then press Enter (Return) to initiate the search:

    — To search for a specific bug, enter the bug ID in the Search For field.

    — To search for bugs based on specific criteria, enter search criteria, such as a problem description, a feature, or a product name, in the Search For field.

    — To search for bugs based on products, enter or choose the product from the Product list. For example, enter Cisco Crosswork Data Gateway.

    — To search for bugs based on releases, in the Releases list choose whether to search for bugs affecting a specific release, bugs that were fixed in a specific release, or both. Then enter one or more release numbers in the Releases field.

  4. When the search results are displayed, use the filter tools to narrow the results. You can filter the bugs by status, severity, and so on.


Tip


To export the results to a spreadsheet, click Export Results to Excel.
