Overview
Before you install the Cisco SCE8000 chassis or touch the modules, read this document.

Preparing Your Location
Make sure that your building is correctly grounded to earth ground.

Preparing the Rack Room

Make sure that the rack enclosures are properly connected to the building earth ground.
•
Make sure that the chassis is kept in a sealed antistatic bag prior to installation.

Make sure that you are properly grounded before you remove the antistatic bag from the chassis.

Make sure that you are properly grounded and that you properly handle the chassis during installation.

Grounding the Chassis
•
Make sure you properly connect the chassis (system) ground to the building ground.
•
The chassis illustration below shows the system ground connector pad location for the Cisco SCE8000 chassis.
•
The ground lug kit part number is 69-0815-01.

Transporting Line Cards
Keep the line card in a sealed antistatic bag when transporting.

Handling Line Cards
•
Properly ground yourself before you remove the line card from the antistatic bag.
•
Handle the line card by the front panel and the metal carrier only.

Removing and Installing Line Cards
•
Make sure you are properly grounded before removing or installing line cards.
•
Make sure you properly handle the line card by the front panel and the metal carrier only.

Grounding the Work Surface
•
Make sure that you and the work surface that you are placing the line card on are properly grounded.
•
Your wrist strap, the rack enclosure, and the work surface should all be attached to the building ground.
