This article explains the configuration of class mapping in QoS advanced mode on a SFE/SGE managed device. A Class Mapping defines a traffic flow with ACLs. A MAC ACL, IP ACL and IPv6 ACL can be combined into a class map. Class maps are configured to match packet criteria on a match-all or match-any basis. They are matched to packets on a first-fit basis, meaning that the action associated with the first-matched class map is the action performed by the system. Packets that match the same class map are considered to belong to the same flow.
Note: Before you configure Class Mapping, you need to configure IPv4 based ACLs, IPv6 based ACLs and MAC based ACLs. To do so, go through the articles Configuration of IPv6 Based Class Map on WAP551 and WAP561 Access Points, Configure MAC Based ACL on the SGE/SFE Series Managed Switches, and Configuration of IPv6 Based ACL on SFE/SGE Managed Switches.
• SFE/SGE Managed Devices
• v3.0.2.0
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Quality of Service > QoS Advanced Mode > Class Mapping. The Class Mapping page opens.
Step 2. Click Add to add class mapping. The Add QoS Class Map window appears.
Step 3. Enter a class map name in the Class Map Name field.
Step 4. Check the IP ACL check box to enable IP ACL. Check either the IPv4 or the IPv6 check boxes to choose the ACL to which the packets are compared.
Step 5. Choose an option from the Match drop-down list to choose how the packets are matched to ACLs.
• And — Both the MAC-based and the IP-based ACL must match the packet.
• Or — Either the MAC-based or the IP-based ACL must match the packet.
Step 6. Check the MAC ACL check box to enable the MAC based ACL. Choose a MAC based ACL from the Mac ACL drop-down list to choose how the packets are matched.
Step 7. Choose the Preferred ACL for packets to get matched to first, whether an IP-based ACL or a MAC-based ACL.
Step 8. Click Apply. The Running Configuration file is updated.
Caution: This only saves your configuration to the running configuration file. This means any changes made will be lost if the device is rebooted. If you wish to save these changes even after a system reboot, you need to copy the running configuration file to the startup configuration file. See Copy Configuration File on SFE/SGE Series Managed Switches for more information on how to do this.
