The Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Relay Interface allows for multiple connections to be established on multiple DHCP servers based on the interfaces provided by the user. The relay itself creates redundancies that improve functionality. By adding the interfaces, broadcast storms on the network are prevented and forced redundancies are created.
The objective of this article is to assist in the configuration of the DHCP Relay Interface on SFE/SGE Managed Switches.
• SFE/SGE Managed Switches
• v3.0.0.17
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose System > System Management > IP Addressing > DHCP Relay > DHCP Server. The DHCP Server page opens:
Step 2. Choose Enable from the DHCP Relay drop-down list.
Step 3. Click Apply to save the changes to the DHCP Server page.
Caution: This only saves your configuration to the running configuration file. This means any changes made will be lost if the device is rebooted. If you wish to save these changes even after a system reboot, you need to copy the running configuration file to the startup configuration file. See Copy Configuration File on SFE/SGE Series Managed Switches for more information on how to do this.
Note: The DHCP Relay must be enabled to continue.
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose System > System Management > IP Addressing > DHCP Relay > DHCP Interfaces. The DHCP Interfaces page opens:
Step 2. Click Add to add an interface. The Add DHCP Interface window appears:
Step 3. Choose which VLAN to add as a DHCP interface from the Interface drop-down list.
Step 4. Click Apply to add the interface.
