This article explains the configuration of Forward Multicast All on SFE/SGE Managed Switches. It allows the router to forward multicast traffic to networks where the multicast devices are listening. It also blocks the forwarding of multicast traffic to networks where nodes are not listening.
• SFE/SGE Managed Switches
• v3.0.2.0
Step 1. Log into the switch configuration utility and choose Bridging > Multicast > Forward.
Step 2. Choose the desired VLAN from the VLAN ID drop-down list.
Step 3. Click the Ports or LAGs radio button to bring up a list of interfaces on it.
Step 4. Click the Edit button of the Port or LAGs that you would like to modify. The Edit Multicast Forward All window appears:
• VLAN ID — The VLAN ID chosen to edit by the user.
• Interface — The port or LAGs chosen to edit by the user.
Step 5. Choose the interface status from the Interface Status drop-down list.
• Static — Manually joined to the multicast group.
• Forbidden — Not allowed to join the multicast group even if IGMP Snooping specifies the interface to join the group.
• Excluded — Not a part of the multicast group.
• Dynamic — Automatically joins the multicast group.
Step 6. Click Apply.
Caution: This only saves your configuration to the running configuration file. This means any changes made will be lost if the device is rebooted. If you wish to save these changes even after a system reboot, you need to copy the running configuration file to the startup configuration file. See Copy Configuration File on SFE/SGE Series Managed Switches for more information on how to do this
