The Bonjour protocol detects devices automatically through the use of UDP packets. The page allows for the service type to be set too.
The objective of this document is to explain the purpose of the Bonjour protocol and assist with the setup of its services.
• SFE/SGE Series Managed Switches
• v3.0.0.17
Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Admin > Discovery - Bonjour. The Discovery - Bonjour page opens:
Step 2. To enable the Bonjour protocol, check the Enable check box. If Bonjour is disabled, skip to Step 4.
Step 3. Click the desired radio button to determine which type of service the protocol will advertise. This will also use different ports based on which service is chosen.
• Csco-sb — Uses the standard advertisement which is a generic type that is based on a randomized port from port 4000 to port 5000.
• Http — Uses HTTP advertisement through TCP which uses port 80.
• Https — Uses the HTTPS advertisement which is still TCP but is in port 443.
• Telnet — Uses a telnet advertisement which is based in port 23.
• Ssh — Uses a secure shell (ssh) advertisement which is based in port 22.
Step 4. Click Apply to save the changes made to the Discovery - Bonjour page.
Caution: This only saves your configuration to the running configuration file. This means any changes made will be lost if the device is rebooted. If you wish to save these changes even after a system reboot, you need to copy the running configuration file to the startup configuration file. See Copy Configuration File on SFE/SGE Series Managed Switches for more information on how to do this.
