Class mapping applies the Access Control List (ACL) rules to Quality of Service (QoS) settings. ACLs and Access Control Elements (ACE) are defined for better flow of traffic and also to block unnecessary traffic. The packets are matched based on IP or MAC rules that are configured at the access control settings. They are compared to determine whether they are on the same flow or not.
This article explains how to define a class map on ESW2-350G switches.
Note: You have to configure MAC based ACL (Refer to the article titled MAC based ACLs and ACEs Configuration on ESW2-350G Switches) and IP based ACL (Refer to the articles titled IPv6-Based ACL & ACE Configuration on ESW2-350G Switches and IPv4-Based ACL & ACE Configuration on ESW2-350G Switches) before you can configure class mapping. QoS also has to be in advanced mode before you proceed (Refer to the article titled Quality of Service (QoS) Properties on ESW2-350G Switches).
• ESW2-350G
• ESW2-350G-DC
• 1.3.0.62
Step 1. Log in to the switch configuration utility to choose Quality of Service > QoS Advanced Mode > Class Mapping. The Class Mapping page opens:
Step 2. Click Add to add a class mapping. The Add Class Mapping windows appears.
Step 3. At the Class Map Name field, enter the desired name for this mapping.
Step 4. At the Match ACL Type field, click the appropriate radio button to set how a packet must match to the flow defined in the class map. The options are:
• IP — Packets are required to match the defined IP based ACL in order to be permitted in the flow.
• MAC — Packets are required to match the defined MAC based ACL in order to be permitted in the flow.
• IP and MAC — Packets are required to match the IP based ACL and the MAC based ACL in order to be permitted in the flow.
• IP or MAC — Packets are required to match either the IP based ACL or the MAC based ACL in order to be permitted in the flow.
Step 5. If you did not click MAC in Step 4 then at the IP field, check the IPv4 or the IPv6 check box based on what is configured on the access control for the class map. Choose the desired ACL from the drop-down list(s).
Step 6. If you did not click IP in Step 4 then at the MAC field, choose the desired MAC based ACL from the drop down next to it.
Step 7. If you clicked IP and MAC, or IP or MAC in Step 4, you can prioritize either IP or MAC over one another at the Preferred ACL field. Click the IP radio button if you prefer packets to be matched with IP-based ACLs first and then to MAC-based ACLs. Otherwise, click the MAC radio button.
Step 8. Click Apply to save the settings and return to the Class Mapping page.
Step 9. (Optional) To delete a class map, check the Class Map Name that needs to be removed and click Delete.
