The time range must be configured with an absolute start and end time. The configuration of time range has an advantage which is if the user wants to limit the access of the computers to the network only during the business hours after which these computers are locked and is also used to block the access to the rest of the network. The objective of this article is to configure time range on the ESW2-550X Switches.
Note: In order to ensure that the time range entries take effect at the desired time, the software clock should be set by the user or by the Simple Network Time Protocol (SNTP). Failure to set the software clock in this way can cause the time range not to get applied to the 802.1X port.

Step 1. Log in to the web configuration utility and choose Security > 802.1X > Time Range or Time Settings > Time Range. The Time Range page opens:
• Time Range Name — Represents the name of the time range.
• Absolute Starting Time — Represents the absolute starting time.
• Absolute Ending Time — Represents the absolute ending time.
Step 1. Click Add. The Add Time Range window appears:
Step 2. Enter the time range name in the Time Range Name field.
Step 3.Click one of the following radio buttons from the Absolute Starting Time field. The two options are:
• Immediate — Click this radio button so that the time range starts from the time when it is created.
• Date and Time — Click this radio button to choose the absolute start date and time from the Date and Time drop-down lists.
Step 4. Click one of the following radio buttons from the Absolute Ending Time field. The two options are:
• Infinite — Click this radio button so that the time range is infinite and it never ends.
• Date and Time — Click this radio button to choose the absolute end date and time from the Date and Time drop-down lists.
Step 5. Click Apply. You return to the Time Range page again and the Time Range Table displays the new range.
Step 1. Check the check box of the time range that you want to configure and then click Edit. The Edit Time Range window appears.
Note: The Time Range Name field displays the name of the range user wants to configure.
Step 2. Click one of the following radio buttons from the Absolute Starting Time field. The two options are:
• Immediate — Click this radio so that the time range starts from the time when it is created.
• Date and Time — Click this radio button to choose the absolute start date and time from the Date and Time drop-down lists.
Step 3. Click one of the following radio buttons from the Absolute Ending Time field. The two options are:
• Infinite — Click this radio button so that the time range is infinite and it never ends.
• Date and Time — Click this radio button to choose the absolute end date and time from the Date and Time drop-down lists.
Step 4. Click Apply. The Time Range page opens again and displays the edited range configuration.
Step 1. Check the check box of the time range that the user wants to delete and then click the Delete button. The configuration is removed.
