A VLAN is a logical group of ports that enables the devices that are associated in the same group to communicate between each other over the Ethernet MAC layer. Multicast TV VLANs allow subscribers that are a part of a different data VLAN to receive Multicast transmissions without the need to replicate transmissions for each VLAN of a subscriber. The network port is statically configured as a member in the multicast VLAN ID.
