Introduction

The Remote Configuration (RC) feature allows automatically provisioning an IP Phone out of box or after factory reset, without having to physically configure the device. Once the RC download from the Enablement Data Orchestration System (EDOS) server completes, you will be able to view the customization state of the IP Phone on the Graphical User Interface (GUI) or the web-based utility.

Here are the prerequisites for Remote Configuration:

  1. The Media Access Control (MAC) address of the device must be configured on the EDOS server with an associated profile. Generally this is done at the time of ordering the device.
  2. RC will not be performed if Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP) Options 66, 160, 159, 150, 60, 43, and 125 are provided with a configuration and that profile is downloaded successfully. This must not be configured for RC to start.
  3. Device must be Internet connected and able to connect to EDOS server to download the profile.
  4. Since the EDOS profile redirects the device to a provisioning server controlled by the service provider, this provisioning server must also be network accessible.

Here are the Different Device Auto Configuration Customization States:
