The Cisco Digital Content Manager (DCM) Series D9902 might fail to boot up or remain in an endless reboot cycle.
If unit is in normal operation, there is very low likelihood this problem will occur.
D9902 might not reboot due to oscillation of one 5V DC DC converter on the main board of the D9902 chassis.
The root cause of the problem is a capacitor value in the stability feedback loop that is not dimensioned with enough safety margin, resulting in possible oscillations on 5V reactive load dependent.
The Cisco DCM Series D9902 Digital Content Manager might fail to boot up or remain in an endless reboot cycle. These are common symptoms of the failure:
If the unit is in normal operation, there is a very low likelihood that this problem will occur.
Cisco proposes to replace the bare DCM-MK2 chassis of the affected unit, after you have removed all power supplies and cards in an upcoming maintenance window with the Returned Materials Authorization (RMA) procedure.
