||800-08058-02 or later, 800-18578-0x, 800-08724-0x and 800-06588-0x are not affected by this issue.
When performing Virtual Tributary (VT) grooming (Add/Drop VT1.5 To/From STS-1 Circuit) via the 15454-XC-VT in a protected Unidirectional Path Switched Ring (UPSR) system, 15454-XC-VT cards with part number 800-08058-01 may cause DS1 errors.
This issue was caused due to design changes implemented in part number 800-08058-01. The issue was discovered in the field and has been corrected through an update to the field programmable gate array (FPGA) image of the 15454-XC-VT.
When performing VT grooming (Add/Drop VT1.5 To/From STS-1 Circuit) via the 15454-XC-VT in a protected UPSR system, 15454-XC-VT cards with part number 800-08058-01 may cause DS1 errors. The errors reported on the DS1 card or any card running DS1 payload are: CV-V, ES-V, DS1 Tx CV-P and DS1 Tx ES-P, while Loss of Framing (LOF) and cyclic redundancy check (CRC) errors may be seen on the DS1 terminating equipment. PM counts for these errors will increase, although are unlikely until threshold crossing alert (TCA) levels are reached.
Customers who are performing VT grooming via the 15454-XC-VT in a protected UPSR system with P/N 800-08058-01 can request an upgrade to the 15454-XC-VT through normal RMA procedures.
How To Identify Hardware Levels
To determine the Part Number, Hardware Revision and Serial Number of your 15454-XC-VT boards:
- Open Cisco Transport Controller (CTC).
- From the Shelf View, select Inventory
- From the Inventory tab, locate the XC-VT boards and compare the information from the Inventory tab against the Products Affected section above.
