15454-XC-VT boards with a serial number of SAG0621XXX and earlier have a mismatch between the CLEI label and machine readable data.
Boards with serial numbers of SAG0622XXXX and later are not affected by this issue. For example: SAG0622XXXX [Year (06) = 2002, (04) = 2000, and Week (22) = 22nd week of the year].
Any board manufactured after the 21st week of 2002 is not affected by this issue.
A data entry error was responsible for a mismatch between Telcordia data and the Cisco CLEI database. The CLEI label consists of two portions, a human readable portion that shows the CLEI code, and a bar coded portion that reflects the ECI number. OTBU products typically use a split label, so that the human readable portion and bar-coded portions of the label are placed in separate areas on the faceplate. It has been determined that, while the CLEI code was incorrect, the ECI number (the bar-coded portion) does match the Telcordia records.
Note: There are three distinct components involved in the CLEI information data.
- Human readable CLEI label
- Bar code label
- Machine readable memory contents
The CLEI label and machine readable data content do not reflect the correct CLEI code information. This issue will only affect those customers using these forms of identification to track their hardware. The bar code label does match the Telcordia CLEI data base information.
Unless the above-mentioned forms of CLEI identification are used within your organization, you are not affected by this issue, and need take no further action.
If, your organization does rely on the CLEI label and/or the machine readable CLEI data, and your board has a serial number in the affected range, please contact the Technical Assistance Center as outlined below to obtain a replacement human readable label for the front panel.
