Cisco 7200 Series Routers |
Cisco IOS 12.0(7)S will be deferred due to two software defects, CSCdp17433 and CSCdp31259. Cisco IOS 12.0(7)S1 will replace 12.0(7)S. Other software repairs have also been integrated into 12.0(7)S1 (See DDTS Section below).
A process memory leak affecting the Cisco7200, Cisco 7500 and Cisco 12000 series routers. The symptom displays large amounts of memory being absorbed in either the IPC (InterProcess Communication) or FIB (Forwarding Information Base) process.
The 12000 Series Performance OC48 Linecard will not boot if the fabric downloader is upgraded with the affected Cisco IOS image. 9
CSCdp04303 created the CSCdp17433 problem. CSCdm48200 is integrated in a few Cisco IOS trains but it only affects Cisco IOS 12.0S and 12.0SC (See Cisco IOS Versions Affected below for details).
CSCdp04303 created the CSCdp31259 problem. Only Cisco IOS 12.0S is affected.(See Cisco IOS Versions Affected below for details).
The symptom displays large amounts of memory being absorbed in either the IPC (InterProcess Communication) or FIB (Forwarding Information Base) process. 3
The symptom shows the Cisco 12000 Series Performance OC48 line cards not booting correctly after an IOS upgrade to 12.0(7)S, which included upgrading the fabric downloader. This happens if the fabric downloader is upgraded as a result of one of the following commands.
Command |
Mode |
---|---|
service upgrade all |
configuration |
upgrade all all |
enabled exec |
upgrade fabric-downloader all |
enabled exec |
upgrade fabric-downloader [slot#] |
enabled exec |
CSCdp17433
No workaround.
CSCdp31259
This symptom can be avoided by not upgrading the fabric downloader when installing the new IOS image. If you must install the new image before a fix for this bug is integrated, remove the service upgrade all command from the configuration to prevent the fabric downloader upgrade. The following error messages will appear stating that the fabric downloader must be upgraded:
WARNING: Old Rom Monitor in slot 0 Use "upgrade rom-monitor" command to update the image WARNING: Old Fabric Downloader in slot 0 Use "upgrade fabric-downloader" command to update the image WARNING: Old Rom Monitor in slot 1 Use "upgrade rom-monitor" command to update the image
CSCdp17433 and CSCdp31259
Upgrade to 12.0(7)S1 or a later release.
Cisco will be releasing a rebuild release, 12.0(7)S1. Cisco IOS 12.0(7)S1 will replace 12.0(7)S. Cisco IOS 12.0(7)S1 release forecast:
Available via CCO: December 1, 1999
