Q. Why does calling out from conferences on Codian MCUs or recordings on IP VCRs registered with Asterisk fail?
A. By configuring Codian MCUs or IP VCRs and conferences or recordings in the sip.conf file in your Asterisk installation you can call them directly from your SIP phone. However, calling out from the MCU or IP VCR can fail based on the order of the configuration within the sip.conf file. If the MCU or IP VCR is configured before its conferences or recordings in the sip.conf file, then Asterisk can reject the call with the message: "Failed to authenticate user..."
To avoid this happening, configure the conferences ro recordings first, then configure your MCUs or IP VCRs at the end of the sip.conf file. Alternatively, configure the MCU or IP VCRs and conferences or recordings without a password - or upgrade Asterisk to at least version 1.4.17.
