Introduction
This document describes how to apply an Option Key to change or convert the Product ID of a C Series codec.
Prerequisites
Requirements
Cisco recommends that you have knowledge of these topics:
TC Software Based Endpoints.
Successfully installed a C Series Codec or Profile endpoint and applied a valid IP address that is reachable via web interface and or Command Line Interface (CLI).
Applied for and received a licensing email with an Option Key valid for the device serial number.
Accessed the C Series Codec or Profile endpoint with an administrator account by web interface or Command Line Interface (CLI).
Components Used
The information in this document is based on these software versions:
TC Endpoint Software 7.X releases.
TC Endpoint Software 7.3.2 release.
C Series Codec or Profile endpoint.
Terminal software
---Alternatively, you could use any terminal emulation software that supports Secure Shell (SSH) such as PuTTy, Secure CRT, TeraTerm and so on.
Licensing email with an Option Key.
A web browser, such as Firefox, Internet Explorer or Chrome.
The information in this document was created from the devices in a specific lab environment. All of the devices used in this document started with a cleared (default) configuration. If your network is live, make sure that you understand the potential impact of any command.
Example License Product ID (PID) for C Series Codecs and Profile Endpoints:
Profile 65 Dual with C90 codec = LIC-P65DC90
Profile 65 Single with C60 codec = LIC-P65SC60
Profile 65 Dual with C60 codec = LIC-P55DC60
Profile 52 Single with C40 codec = LIC-P52SC40
Profile 42 single with C40 codec = LIC-P42SC40
Profile 42 single with C20 = LIC-P42SC20
C90 Integrator = LIC-INTP-C90
C60 Integrator = LIC-INTP-C60
C40 Integrator = LIC-INTP-C40
C20 Quick Set = LIC-C20
Note: Different C Series Codecs are used in the Profile Series endpoints. In order to change the Product ID, apply an Option Key that specifies the type of endpoint.
Configure
Web Interface Option Key Installation Example
This web interface example video supplements this document.
Step 1. Review your licensing email containing an Option Key for your correct Product ID (PID), This guide converts a C60 codec to a Profile 65 endpoint:
Example Email

Step 2. Log in to the web interface with an administrator account and navigate to Maintenance > Option Keys:

Step 3. Enter the Option Key value in the Add option key field and click Add Option Key:

Step 4. Navigate to Maintenance > Restart. Click Restart:

Install Option Key via Command Line Interface (CLI) Example
Step 1. Open a Terminal SSH session and log in with an administrator account.
Step 2. Run the command: xCommand SystemUnit OptionKey Add Key: [Option Key]
Step 3. Run the command: xCommand Boot:
Note: Normally, entering the value of an option key does not require a restart for the change to take effect. Entering the value of the Poduct ID Option Key requires a RESTART for the change to take effect.

Verify
Examine the banner at the top right corner of the endpoint web interface Home page, Ensure the product type has changed and it indicates the correct device type which in this guide is a Cisco Profile 65. Examine the Product: field value under Home > System Information > General > Product: Ensure the Product: field value has changed and it indicates the correct device type which in this guide is a Cisco Profile 65:

Troubleshoot
Note: Product ID key does not show in the Option Keys page, this is an expected behavior.
Note: When you apply a Product ID Option Key, a REBOOT is required.
Apply a Product ID key that is already in the system and it produces an error:
Web page: "Failed adding Option Key: Unspecified error"
CLI SSH: "Invalid format, wrong product or already installed."
Note: Always RESTART the codec after adding the Product ID Option Key.
Ensure the first 5-digit code in the key matches the type of the device:
LIC-P65DC90 = 1P013
LIC-P65SC60 = 1P015
LIC-P55DC60 = 1P007
LIC-P52SC40 = 1P020
LIC-P42SC40 = 1P019
LIC-P42SC20 = 1P014
LIC-INTP-C90 = 1P001
LIC-INTP-C60 = 1P002
LIC-INTP-C40 = 1P011
LIC-C20 = 1P004
If the code does not match, you will need to request a Product ID Option Key with the correct code.
