This document describes the reasons for idle sessions that happen for long periods of time.
Why are there idle sessions for long periods of time?
If you navigate to Studio > Manager > Session, there is an option to view all open sessions. There is also an End Session button, but there might be still sessions that are not correctly canceled.
In order to investigate the idle sessions, you must inspect settings on three levels:
- Cisco Information Service (CIS) server level
- Datasource level
- Java Database Connectivity/Oopen Database Connectivity (JDBC/ODBC) client connection level
The values for settings on each level impact when the session is released.
CIS Server Level
Choose Studio > Administration > Configuration > Server > Client Drivers > Session > Default session timeout and verify the value.
Navigate to Datasource properties and verify the value for the Maximum Connection Lifetime.
Client Connection Level
Specify this attribute in the driver connection string and verify if there is a value assigned to the attribute ConnectionLifetime in the JDBC connection URL. See this CIS server level configuration:
