This document describes the support between the vendor Tableau and Cisco Data Virtualization.
Support between Tableau and CIS (Data Virtualization)
At the time of this writing, Tableau (acting as a client tool which consumes a CIS service) has no official support for CIS as a datasource.
Up through now, Tableau users needed to construct a generic style odbc connector by utlizing the Cisco CIS odbc driver. However, this has known issues when Tableau attempts to emit unsupported sql syntax to CIS and will result in parser errors in CIS.
It has been informed by Tableau that they will be releasing a specially named connector for CIS sometime in the Spring of 2016. This has been developed with a CIS-specific dialect and tested successfuly by Tableau.
For more details, please contact Tableau support for the exact release date and build needed for CIS support.
