This document describes about the terminology used in an Active Cluster configuration.
What is "arbiter" in a CIS cluster?
The term "arbiter" may appear in some error messages from the Cisco Information Server (CIS) Active Cluster. This term is equivalent to the timekeeper that is mentioned in our documentation and in troubleshooting conversations with Cisco Data Virtualization Support.
Timekeeper is the more commonly understood usage among customers, but 'arbiter' was the term used internally in our product development team so you may see it appear in the error messages. They are interchangeable.
