Cisco IOS Service Diagnostics offers a collection of powerful onboard diagnostic tools to identify commonly encountered network problems, provide real time alerts, automatically collect relevant information and conduct root cause analysis. These diagnostic tools help customers increase network uptime, reduce time to repair and improve service levels.
Service Diagnostics automates a set of network diagnostic procedures derived from the vast troubleshooting experiences of Cisco network experts. Current offerings include diagnostic tools for common problems in Border Gateway Protocol (BGP), Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) Protocol, and Quality of Service (QoS), as well as tools to monitor and detect abnormal system resource utilization.
Customers can start with a small set of Service Diagnostics capabilities and upload new ones in the future without upgrading the IOS image. The source of the scripts are also provided to allow customers to make modifications and adapt them to their local environment.
Service Diagnostics isolates end users from the rigors of Tcl scripting or Embedded Event Manager (EEM) policy writing. To make it easier to use, this set of Cisco certified EEM policies and Tcl scripts also includes an onboard menu system to support interactive installation and deployment.
