In order to support a variety of applications, bandwidth, and price/performance, the Cisco® 7200 Series routers offer a choice of network processing engines (NPEs). Table 1 lists the product names and descriptions of each NPE available to customers.

The NPE-225 is supported in 12.0(9)S, 12.1(1)E, 12.1(1)T, 12.1(1), 12.2(1), 12.2(2)T and later Cisco IOS releases.
