Cisco Systems
® announces the end-of-sale and end-of-life dates for the Cisco
® 10000 Series Performance Routing Engine (PRE-1). The last day to order the affected product is August 17, 2006. Customers with active service contracts will continue to receive support from the Cisco Technical Assistance Center (TAC) until August 17, 2011. Table 1 describes the end-of-life milestones, definitions, and dates for the affected product. Table 2 lists the product part numbers affected by this announcement.
Customers are encouraged to migrate to the Cisco 10000 Series Performance Routing Engine (PRE-2), which offers higher scalability. Information about the replacement product can be found at:

Table 3 provides relevant information for migrating to the replacement product.

PRODUCT MIGRATION OPTIONS
The recommended replacement for the Cisco 10000 Series PRE-1 is the Cisco 10000 Series PRE-2 (Table 3). The PRE-2 offers more forwarding capacity, scalability, and features than the PRE-1.

Customers can use the Cisco Technology Migration Plan (TMP) to trade in products and receive credit toward the purchase of new Cisco equipment. For more information about the Cisco TMP, go to
