Multicast Cisco EtherChannel
® load-balancing support allows load-balancing multicast traffic egressing an EtherChannel based strictly on destination MAC address. This allows multicast traffic to be distributed across all EtherChannel member ports, thus removing the restriction that multicast traffic is only forwarded on the the EtherChannel default port. Please note that unknown multicast destinations will not be load balanced and instead will be flooded on the EtherChannel default port. Multicast addresses reserved for different protocols (for example, Cisco Discovery Protocol or Spanning Tree Protocol) will also use the default port

The Layer 2+ capable fixed-configuration Cisco Catalyst switches supported with this software release are listed in Table 2.
Because of export restrictions on strong cryptography, a separate image is required for cryptographic features (Secure Shell [SSH] Protocol, Simple Network Management Protocol Version 3 [SNMPv3], and Kerberos Protocol). These software images can be downloaded from the corresponding Triple Data Encryption Standard (3DES) area of the links provided in this section.
