Building a dream digital experience

Each year at Web Summit, the world's largest tech conference, engineers are tasked with building and maintaining a reliable network for more than 70,000 attendees and event staff. The challenges of events engineering can be hard to predict, so the Web Summit team partnered with Cisco and Altice to make sure it can respond quickly to whatever comes its way.

Summary

  • Create and maintain a stable, portable network at Web Summit.
  • Provide more than 70,000 attendees and staff with reliable Wi-Fi.
  • Quickly identify and address network issues.

Results

  • Supported more than 35,000 concurrent Wi-Fi sessions and 45 TB of traffic during Web Summit Lisbon.
  • Reduced the time spent on routine tasks. Able to quickly identify and respond to network issues.

What they're saying

"Different venues have varying connectivity availability: Some will have none, some will have excellent resources--and everything in between. But we know with a partner like Cisco, we'll be prepared for whatever comes next."

Tomé Duarte, Events Engineering Lead, Web Summit
