Cisco Nexus 9000 and 3000 Upgrade and ISSU Matrix

This form provides information for In-Service Software Upgrade[1] (ISSU) and Disruptive Upgrade/Downgrade[2] and for Cisco NX-OS software on Nexus 9000 and 3000 Series Switches based on your current and target releases. The upgrade releases have been tested and validated by Cisco. Use this form as a reference for supported software.

[1]The default upgrade process is disruptive. Therefore, ISSU needs to be enabled using the command-line interface (CLI) using the non-disruptive option, as described in the Upgrade and Downgrade guide. ND ISSU is only supported for Nexus 9300 series top of the rack switches.

[2]The install all command is the recommended method for software upgrades because it performs configuration compatibility checks and BIOS upgrades automatically. In contrast, changing the boot variables and reloading the device bypasses these checks and the BIOS upgrade and, therefore, it is not recommended.

For feedback on this tool, send email to nexus9k-docfeedback@cisco.com.

NOTE: ISSU is not supported for software downgrades. If you want to downgrade your software, follow the disruptive downgrade procedure described in the Upgrade and Downgrade Guide for your target release. For NXOS software strategy and lifecycle, see the Cisco NX-OS Software Strategy and Lifecycle Guide.
