Configuring VLAN Settings for Interfaces
The Interface Setting Page enables you to set the port mode in regard to VLANs.
The following port modes that are supported:
- Access The port is a member of a single VLAN, untagged at egress, and expects to receive untagged incoming traffic only.
- Trunk The port can be a member of multiple VLANs, one of which is untagged at egress, and set also as the port's PVID. The remainder are tagged at egress. Incoming frames tagged with a VLAN to which the ports belongs will be accepted. Incoming untagged frames will be assigned to the VLAN set as PVID.
- General Full 802.1Q support, so that the port can be a member of several VLANs, and for each one a separate decision can be made if it will be tagged or untagged at egress. (If tagged, a VLAN tag is added to outgoing frames, if untagged, outgoing frames are sent as is, regardless of which VLAN they belonged to when sent).
Various features can only be configured on a port when it is in general/trunk mode, such as GVRP.
To configure the port or LAG types:
Click VLAN Management > Interface Settings. The Interface Setting Page opens.
This page lists all ports or LAGs and their VLAN parameters.
To modify the VLAN parameters for an interface, select the interface in the VLAN Interface Setting Page and click Edit. The Edit VLAN Interface Page opens.
This page contains the following fields:

- General The interface can be tagged or untagged (according to how it was defined) and be a member of one or more VLANs (full 802.1Q mode).
- Access The interface belongs to a single untagged VLAN. When a port is in Access mode, the packet types that are accepted on the port cannot be designated. It is also not possible to enable/disable ingress filtering on an access port.
- Trunk The port belongs to VLANs in which all ports are tagged (except for one port that can be untagged).
- PVID Enter the VLAN ID of the VLAN to which untagged packets/frames are assigned. The possible values for General, Access, and Trunk Interface VLAN Mode are 1-4094.
- Frame Type Select the packet type accepted on the port. Possible values are:
- Ingress Filtering Select to enable ingress filtering, which discards packets that do not include an ingress port, is enabled on the port or not. This can only be set by the user in General mode. In the other modes, this is pre-set to Yes.
