QoS Advanced Mode
Frames that matched an ACL and were permitted entrance are implicitly labelled with the name of the ACL that permitted their entrance. Advanced mode QoS actions can then be applied to these flows.
This section describes how this process can be defined.
QoS settings in general are composed of three parts:
- Definitions of the patterns to match. All frames matching a pattern are considered to be a flow.
- Definition of the actions to be applied to frames in each flow (that is, frames that matched a pattern)
- Binding the combinations of pattern and action to one or more interfaces on which a match-and-act is active
Workflow to Configure Advanced QoS Mode
To configure Advanced QoS mode, perform the following:
- Select Advanced mode for the system, using the QoS Properties Page.
- If internal DSCP values are different than those used on incoming packets, map the internal values to external values, using the DSCP Mapping Page.
- Create ACLs, as described in Create ACL Workflow.
- If ACLs were defined, create class maps and associate the ACLs with them, using the Class Map Page.
- To define a policer decide if you want to use a single or a aggregate policer and perform the following based on your decision:
- Single Policer Create a policy that associates a class map with a single policer, using the Policy Table Page and the Class Map Page. Within the policy, define the single policer.
- Aggregate Policer Create a QoS action for each case that sends all matching frames to the same policer (aggregate policer), using the Aggregate Policer Page. Create a policy that associates a class map with the aggregate policer, using the Policy Table Page.
- Bind the policy to an interface, using the Policy Binding Page.
- Bind ACLs to interfaces, using the ACL Binding Page.
